Anyone else playing there? Decent size fields, 12% take on PK3 and PK4's. Nice little grass course. Its nice to play on friday and saturday nights and there is a card today (monday) during the day. Sure beats playing philly.

i like houston, but i'd like to see them come up with morning lines that are at least somewhat realistic. secretariat himself probably would have been 6-1 ml if he ran there.

I've been playing, but it takes me a while to become familiar with a track, so I'm playing small. Can't be 12% takeout, so I'm doing what I can to familiarize myself as quickly as possible.

Yea the morning lines are way off always it seems. Also very slow in adjusting the position numbers during the races.

It's 12% on Pick 3s, Pick 4s are 21%.

one other thing i'd like to see houston do is get the scratches and changes up a little earlier.

didn't take long tonight to have yet another ridiculous morning line.

first race 3-1 winner master jehu is 10-1 morning line off a 52 beyer with danny pish training. 7-5 favorite swift flyer is 9-2 morning line off a 53 beyer and over half his races over 50.

meanwhile 5-2 morning line favorite sunkindofnothin is off since october and off beyers of 27 and 30 with a top of 42. horse goes off 7-1.

get real houston.

Boycott.Me too. I am in solidarity with the Texans in protesting the laws forbiding them from using ADWs.

The morning line in tomorrow's 5th race at Sam Houston might be the worst in the history of horse racing. If the 10 horse goes off at 20-1, I'll need to be resuscitated.

My 4th Favorite track behind EMD, NYRA and Portland is off and running.

Question: Why are they advertising Derby Wars contests? Are they getting a cut? Or hoping any one who plays them on Derby Wars will ALSO make a pari mutuel wager?

I don't know but you get damn close if you make 4-1 into 4-5.

Problem is while I'm no Sam aficionado, I don't see how that horse would get an odds-on line.

Sam aficionado   ...

It's the norm over there. It they had the Derby, with 20 horses, all 20 horses would be 40/1, 50/1 or 99/1 .

I think the janitor does the ML

Got quite a unique individual making the M/L at Sam Houston......Hard to recall anyone making a horse 7-1 or 9-1 in numerous races today.

had a $2 straight P3 Races 4-6 8-3-6. How that 6 faltered???? He was ready to go and died. I cant play that track.

also tried early P3 does Broberg ever win a race there? I get the feeling his horses are overmatched.

years ago Asmussen was gold there, now he sends junk.

Broberg? cant stand those type guys. 99% ITM for the year until you bet him He's 0-6 at SAM so far

I am pretty sure he or they have been doing this for a long time. I do not recall seeing this elsewhere either.

The late great Jim L. "Red" Davis used to throw down the 7-1 M/L once in a while. And when he did you drew a circle around the horse. :)

Broberg won the 1st race of the meet with a PLODDER that showed new speed and wired at 5F. I'm confused.

my bad thought Sat was opening day.

good luck I'm Florida, SA track guy.

I analyze HOU several times a year now. Big Race day. coming.

I used to live at Sam Houston Track. good southern food dining. 30 min drive from downtown. Martha still looks the same.

It's hard to make a line when you have the slowest horses in the South shipping in to make a racecard.

With that being said, they have a nice track, big crowds, great grandstand and facilities. Everything about this track is first class except for the racing stock.

Sam Houston saved me a few bucks yesterday. Was interested in betting the first race at 5.5f, but was locked out at OTB like it was a Quarter horse race. The manager called to find out what was happening, but no answer. So I'm watching the pre-race pools and at 5 mtp, $2000 in the win pool and less than 900 in the DD pool. I see post race the DD pool grew to 8600. My 10-1 shot ran 3rd by only 15-3/4 lengths. I realize it was a Monday.

It looks like the m/ls are just picked out of a hat here. I dont know who is putting money into the pools but if its people looking at m/ls there could be some value here.

Usually the first race is Arabians.
