So I'm doing the free online NHC contest today and I thought I would try something different and really go for bombs. I like the 7 in race 3 at GP (thanks to HTR modeler) , the first race in the contest, so I go with him and went nuts when he won at 30-1....until I check the leaderboard, 90 people had the 7........ :bang:

The best part of the story is not only do I not have a single cent on him I also don't use the horse in the Gapfire contest.....

There are so many outstanding handicappers out there it is unreal.

congrats, but it also says that the the results are out of 255 entries. I cannot believe that 90 people had the winner and 165 had 2nd and nobody had anyone else. Unless, of course, they had about 10000 entries which is unlikely. I would demand an investigation.

there are 1762 entrants. a whole lot must've fired on the longest shot on the board. gl.

I guess 255, but now I see what you are saying: it's impossible that everyone either had the winner or the second place horse, probably a screw up.

it is now an 8 race contest.

And the last race is for maidens and is down to 5 horses. Great :( looks like I'll stay around 14th place

i think anyone might have a case against these guys. it says 10 races on feb. 18. but, then in the rules its says they can do whatever they want without telling anyone. i am no lawyer but i dont see how that would hold up in court.

At least it was free. This was only my third contest so I'm happy with how I'm doing. But I hate to think I could've hit it big at the Fairgrounds and been going to Vegas.

50 bucks is not much but it is not free, reminds me of the banks that give you 'free checking' for $10 a month.

That's true, but the NTRA will have more "free" tournaments throughout the season. Hopefully they will throw an extra one in for today's debacle.

Maybe they will award tour points as a consolation?

that's the right thing to do... so, no shot.

Not that I'm thrilled with todays outcome, but it's not really their fault FG cancelled. Perhaps they should offer an alternate race from each track in the contest just in case a cancellation takes place. This way you don't need to purchase anymore PP's and they can have something to all back on. Like I said earlier it sucks to think I could've finished better than 15th if they raced those two races. But on the other hand I could've done worse too. C'est la vie!
