Congratulations to Brad Free on an excellent day. Sometimes, you are lucky and just don't know it!

I think it is allowed here. Even Beyer says you only need 10% of your annual income for a score to be boast worthy.

Well done Brad. We need more "feel good" stories like that publicized.

With Luck and this story, I don't know how much more feel-good publicity they need to get the word out. A ticket like that is a life changer and came from the mans work not just walking into a gas station and buying a lottery ticket.
Excellent story.

No horseplayer worth his salt would consider $41,000 a life-changing score. :)

"No horseplayer worth his salt would consider $41,000 a life-changing score?"

No you couldn't buy a new house or farm or whatever.
However 99% of the players on this board, and some are indeed worth their salt, would luv to hit that type of payout on a $20 wager.

Personally, I don't think that you've won anything at a race track until you've spent it elsewhere.

That is why whenever I hit a big one, but never that big yet , I insist on spending at least half of the money on other things.
In that regard, I've been able to travel to Europe and elsewhere on winnings. As such, I'd say those trips did change my life.

Geez...a guy can't even joke around here anymore...

Of course I would love to win $41,000 on a $20 bet, Greyfox...and I too believe in finding better things to do with any winnings I might have than to lose them right back.

I thought if someone used the smiley face in a post, it would be obvious that he was kidding...

I guess not...

Being he went out of his way to repeatedly pen - 'No one hits the pick six on a ticket that costs only $20" - Is he planning on writing a retraction anytime soon or was that used for dramatic effect?

Any horse player worth his salt plow the 40k right back in to horse racing expecting to build on his winnings. Every horse player I know thinks they are just one big score away from having enough money to play the ponies right.

I realize that the smiley suggested that an element of tongue-in-cheek flippancy was being presented. However, without hearing your intonations with a comment like that, there also seemed to be an element of condescension accompanying it.
That said, I felt that the poster that you made the comment to deserved more support for his enthusiasm and positiveness than your joke was communicating. Thank you for clarifying that no condescension was intended.

Agree.

Us loudmouths like to refer to the "Beyer Rule" as it allows for less illegal celebration penalties!

Well...I can't argue with you there.

I must admit that I have never been one to throw my support around on those who approach this game with "enthusiasm and positiveness".

To me, and to many other serious players I suppose, this is not a game...it's WAR...and the casualties are many. And I don't know of many people who approach "war" with enthusiasm and positiveness.

I think the right approach is to remain...cautiously optimistic. Enthusiasm should be left for the easier games...

Glad to hear anyone make a nice score. The closest I came was 5/6 on a $8.00 ticket a couple of years ago. Return was $120.00 If I had doubled one other race it would have been 13K for 6/6. Hence the screen name should coulda. I figure if you throw enough crap against a wall, some of it is bound to stick! Andy Beyer said somewhere that you should bet up to $8 on the small side or $48 and up to get serious. I still think the odds are better than lotto. JMO.

Not sure where I heard it, but I remember this quote from somewhere:

"If you're going to play the Pick 6, you shouldn't play for more than $8 unless you're going to play for at least $200".
