The Walking Tour...
Our first stop is at the Receiving Barn.
The horses begin their race day here,
and hopefully end it here as well.
The 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place finishers of
each race worth $100,000 or more,
along with 9 other random horses throughout the day
(a poorly finishing favorite or a winning long shot for example),
return to the receiving barn after the race
in order to have their blood drawn and their urine collected.
Did you know, horses urinate on command?
No kidding, they are trained to go by whistle!

She even informed us of a tribute in the art deco...

Did you know there is a jockey on the ground in the design?
It is a tribute to all the fallen jockeys
whose tremendous courage make this great sport possible.

We were joined by this little fellow at the carriage barn
on our way back to Clocker's at the end of a beautiful tour.

It's always a beautiful day at Santa Anita Park!

The Seabiscuit Tram & Walking Tour
is something every horseplayer should experience,
and the best part... it's absolutely FREE!

Thanks Badactor, enjoyed your photo tour, and agree that it's
well worth taking in the experience. Enjoyed the tour this year
with out of state guests who were delighted with the backside
tram ride, and the informative walking tour.
