...why the heck I didn't get paid for my Pick 5 at Santa Anita today when #2 Eden's Moon scratched out of the 3rd? Seven-horse race with 2 scratches, taking it down to 5. They didn't include either of the 2 scratches in the payout.

What kind of fine-print B.S. is this that I don't know about? :confused: I shoulda gotten paid on 2 tickets, as far as I can tell.

Thanks for any insight.

and almost every pool does this at every track. They don't want to refund $.

it's called S.O.L. or you're F'd...

Don't EVER bet NY track races on rain days...esp...the p/6...you won't even get the complimentary vasoline

Don't most multi race wagers lead to the post time favorite if a scratch happens?

Ya know, I've read that getting the favorite it what's 'supposed' to happen, but I also know I've gotten paid 4 times due to scratches before on a Pick 4, because it resulted in 4 combos that got paid.

Very confused at this point. Thanks for the replies.

You can get paid if the scratches were considered early scratches then you get a conso, but if they are late scratches you get the post time favorite.

That must've been it. Here's the whole breakdown. I was wondering why 'any' scratches get paid, then. They paid for two of them yesterday (just not the one I needed):
$0.50 Pick 5 3/5-7-4-4/5-5 (5 correct) 684.45

On the other hand, I was very pleasantly surprised on opening day to get paid 4 times on the late Pick 4 here. (Won't let me cut & paste result):

I had to place bets early & go to work that day, but yesterday they weren't placed until between 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. Sure wish I knew what qualifies as "early." I've even bet at 3:00 a.m. recently to try to get paid for scratches that I 'think' take place when the business office opens around 9:00 a.m. I know one morning recently, one of my horses scratched between 9:00 a.m. & 9:30 a.m. while I had my wager pad open & was in the process.
