Just take out the homeland if they do.
If you go to war, go all the way.
Go Dresden on them if they want to play with the big boys.
Little piss-ants need to be stepped on.

More like spin from a far left source, MSNBC. They seem to have little grasp of modern naval warfare. In a conflict the entire Iranian navy would be destroyed and neutralized in a few hours. A fast moving US carrier task group can deal with multiple threats simultaneously. Those small boats and heavier Iranian navy vessels would have to penetrate four defense layers in order to strike a blow. First they would be sitting ducks for carrier launched fighter air strikes. Next would be long range surface to surface anti ship missiles. Still a few left? Conventional very accurate gunfire from cruisers and destroyers. Finally, at close range would be machine guns designed to chew up missiles, aircraft, and smallcraft by delivering a very high rate of accurate fire, a virtual steel curtain. End of the naval threat. At the same time all this is going on, destroy their ports and bases and eliminate any possible or future support facility.

The entire problem with that "theory" is that by closing or denying freedom of navigation in a international water-way you are commiting a act of war. The Iranians don't need to worry about not escalating the conflict via asymmetric warfare. We, along with the international community will gladly do that for them. :D

This whole thing about the Strait of Hormuz is just Iranian saber-rattling that unfortunately everyone else is all too opportunistic to spin into some fear-based agenda.

Iran WILL NOT, I repeat WILL NOT, interfere with freedom of navigation.
