Your first tri bet is an exacta plus show trifecta.

Your second tri bet appears to be a key horse trifecta bet but you don't play your key horse(the #3 horse) in the place slot.

What are you trying to accomplish with this bet structure?

In retrospect, I would have been better off playing the key in the place spot in the second tri and adding the 1 and 4 to the 1st and 3rd positions. Or, I could have boxed my top 4. Goes to show you why this was for entertainment puposes only - too late on a Sunday night besides. Thanks for pointing it out.

King, You might want to check this out.

Go to the Allways site, frandsen.com, go to their newsletters and check out the two reports on how to play the trifecta. These articles are excellant.

Also, Jerry Stokes, aka Little Joe, has an alternative to boxing method for 4 and 5 horse trifectas. The 4 horse only cost $20 & the 5 horses is about $36(instead of $60). We use these when we just can't line up the contenders but know the other 5 or so horses can't hit the board.

Jerry's site is "a1handicapping.com." I may have gotten this free with his book but Jerry might just send it to you if you ask. He is a very accomodating fellow.

Good luck, let me know if these help.

Thanks for the info. It looks like there is a wealth of info at the All-Ways site. It will take awhile to read through all of it.

How do you like Little Joe's book? I'm always looking for info that can help me. Is it worth the $25 price?

Little Joe's book was the first handicapping book I ever bought and at that time was invaluable. I have read most of what is in his book elsewhere since then but the Form Darkening angles in his book are well worth $25 to me.

Joe sells weekly lessons for a paltry $3 a month. I took the lessons for a year. They were great not only for picking contenders but bet structure which seems to be the difference between being a winning or losing player. (You wouldn't believe the amount of money I have saved by just flipping my exactas for a smaller amount.) Something I learned from Little Joe.

Hope this helps,
