For Robin Cannata, it was tough enough that her son committed suicide, but a picture of the distraught 20-year-old holding a gun to his mouth as his Facebook profile picture ---- an image he posted the day he died ---- was too much for the Winchester woman to bear.

I was talking to a friend of my wife's, who works at Facebook. She was going on about how many hours the interview process was at FB. I asked her would political affiliation play any role in the hiring process. "No doubt about it. It's all about diversity and inclusion. If you aren't 100% supporting the gay/lesbian/trans community, you won't get hired."

I'm not shocked at this, but one would think they would at least make an attempt to deny it.

The plurality of employees at FB aren't white males? The interview questions, if truly asked, were ridiculous, but I'm not sure your posting is correct?

There are no Christians at FB? I find that hard to believe, but I do not know. I would have assumed the majority of FB employees were Christian? Do they mainly employ atheists? Muslims? Jewish?

Facebook is in deep trouble now. Their report shows that they only recognize 2 genders.

Their report from last summer shows in USA less than 50% white and 3% black, clearly they are racist.

If Facebook doesn't hire on merit, they will slowly lose to a company that does.

It may take a long time, but the sooner the better.

From the sounds of it no truthful Evangelical Christian would pass the political-political correctness screening. I certainly wouldn't. Heck...I don't think I'll ever have to worry about actually serving on a jury, for that matter. Been turned down twice already because of my convictions. :coffee:

I think your point is well taken.

There is a difference between a Christian that will quietly believe what he believes while delusional leftists are wreaking havoc and confusion and one that is willing to argue the other side of the issue. The former will be tolerated to make it look good, but the latter will not. That's how totalitarianism works.

The Facebook live stream has had a number of suicides and murders on it. The dark side of humans being social with media where they contribute the content.

What's worse IMHO is the Facebook tracking that takes place regardless of whether or not you have an account. Any site that has the little "like" buttons (like Twinspires) allows tracking, and toggling off third-party cookies doesn't always work.

Here's some blog posts by Karl Denninger on the topic - he's not a fan....

My wife and I saw this kind of stuff coming years ago when FB was still in its infancy but its popularity was already blooming. So, we decided no social media for us. We also fully anticipated that social media would likely pattern itself after the mainstream media, politically. Correct on all counts.

Facebook has monetized its customer. They did this with 0bama's campaign to help him win his election. They did it again for his reelection.

They did it again and helped Trump win the election.

NOW the libtards are upset.

Cognitive Dissonance knows no bounds on the left.

It's not just about money, either.

I finally broke down about 8 years ago and got a FB account to stay in touch with a couple of gals on my high school reunion committee. I found it interesting to get in touch with long-lost friends, but spent very little time on it, and made exactly one post to my account, which was the 2012 Kentucky Derby analysis. A week later, the most popular (and one of the most beautiful) girls in my class "de-friended" me.

I like to think it was because she owned several riding horses, and hated racing. But it might have something to do with me picking Take Charge Indy, who finished 19th in the 2012 Derby, which was won by I'll Have Another....:D

A couple of years ago, when it came out that FB and Zuckerberg were experimenting with information flow to "manipulate" the user experience, I decided that I didn't need to be part of FB's social experiment. I deleted my account.

I haven't used my FB account much at all from Day 1, and not at all the last few years.

No one gives you anything for free, and FB is no exception.
I just like to know the costs up front - with FB, you just trust Zucker.....no thanks.

How can they be a monopoly if they aren't selling anything to the general public? They are not a monopoly in selling ads to companies, so why does Congress care about that?

Why is it the business of Congress to protect people from their own stupidity in giving away their personal data?

Zuckerberg looked the fool today. Basically admitted the company is a monopoly and they trick you into revealing your personal data.

Perfect invitation for Congress to break them up

I watched the first couple hours. He was the most out of touch executive I've ever witnessed, and I've witnessed a lot. If I were a stock holder, I'd be selling my shares. If I was a board member with a fiduciary responsibility to shareholders, I'd seriously be thinking about getting a new CEO. Zuckerberg was a deer in the headlights. On several occasions, Senators were dumbfounded that Zuckerberg didn't know basic facts about his own company policies and the business environment his company swam in. I honestly was shocked. He is in waaay over his head.

Did you see the terms of service Graham held up? It was the size of an old phone book. Easily an inch thick. Zuckerberg had to admit that no one reads it before signing up. When you make a TOS that cumbersome, your intent is to defraud people, and saying that they signed up anyway despite not reading the TOS is not a valid argument to me.

... and how about Ted Cruz. Zuckerberg could not adequately defend against claims of political bias. His only defense was that their employee pool comes from a very left leaning area, so they can't do anything about bias. Mark, the answer is to hire across the country and have a ton of virtual employees looking at content, not just employees from one area. What a horribly dense response.

The words POS comes to mind. Graham asked if he fired the executive that said it was okay if the occasional person killed themselves if Facebook was essentially good for society, and Zuckerberg's answer was that their company fosters differing views, and an executive's view that it's okay for some people to die for Facebook to thrive was within acceptable company standards. In so many words. Graham was astounded!

The Senate is pathetic. Cruz was pathetic. Collins was a brown-nose suck up, etc. Not one Republican senator had to brass to ask Zucky these two questions:

Mr. Zucky, sir, I'm confused as to why you're even here before this austere, enlightened body of intellectual elites and fearless leaders, taking up our valuable time, since you allowed the Obama administration to data mine data on many millions of your subscribers prior to the 2012 elections and the mainstream media actually applauded Obama for making such wise use of the technology. So how does this materially differ from what Cambridge Analytica did? How come no one voiced a single complaint when you let the Obama administration access your data prior to the 2012 election?

not sure about the best part. Nothing about Congress can be described as best unless the building blows up. Then best can be used because you literally kill two birds with one stone. A bunch of politicians who also happen to be lawyers.

I've never given Facebook my credit card or social, and I don't mind if the sell ad space since they are giving me a free webpage on a website that gets hundreds of billions of hits every day. And, they have a marketplace where you can sell stuff for free, and it works great. Facebook is great if you have a small business. Before the internet, I had to spend too much on advertising.
