So let me get this straight......Last night's "Game of the Century" came in about 25% lower than the all time most viewed game (TEXAS-USC)?

Awesome, SEC. Just awesome

Alabama-LSU produces lowest TV rating for national championship in BCS era

NEW ORLEANS -- Alabama loved a rematch. Not so much of the rest of the country.

It turns out most television viewers didn't want to see Alabama-LSU again, at least not an uncompetitive rematch.

Overnight ratings for Alabama's 21-0 victory over LSU were the lowest for a national championship in the 14-year history of the BCS.

It was rematch of the most boring of the season. Why would anyone want to watch it. I barely even cared enough to check the score on sportscenter.

8 quarters, 10 field goals, 1 TD, 1 missed extra point. BORRRRRRRRRRRING!

But bad football is better than no football. Which is what we'll have soon.

if there's a bright side to this abortion called the BCS, there's talk of a playoff or a +1 play in...That would be better than what exists

Regardless of who won (and Bama was clearly the better team in both games) no one outside La or AL was up for this.

The first game was awful for offensive execution, and the rematch was little different. It was a game that shouldn't have been matched up & the sponsors are going to be pissed off that they overpaid for such a pathetic perfomance...to sponsors it was like betting on a 2/5 false favorite wearing fronts for the first time, limping on the track

Here is a good article. Berry is head and shoulders above any other columnist here in Oklahoma, and is right up there with any I've read regularly around the country in Denver, Dallas, Baltimore, DC, and New York too.

"If college football is destined for a four-team, plus-one playoff, make only conference champions eligible. That way, every regular-season game really will count."

Meanwhile on the bright side of football the smart market savvy NFL did big time numbers on there wild card games. Saints/Lions was a huge number but even that was only number 2. The Bronco's/Steelers game was the highest rated wild card game since 1988. Hey you NCAA/BCS dopes give the public what they want. A REAL championship that is decided on the field.

Just think if the NFL said "OK our computers and selected polls have said that this year's Super Bowl will be between Green Bay and New Orleans".

All the other games will just be so that some fans can bet on the games and TV will have time filled.

Doesn't the Derby and World Series post new all time low numbers every year? Pretty much everything but the Super Bowl seems to. Many, many more TV options now than years ago.

Hey New that was exactly my point. The BCS gave us two teams from the SEC. :) When you have a computer ranking and selected polls determine who plays nothing else matters.
