And the reason that record #7 will never be broken is because he was built like this, and NOTHING has been built like him since, and quite possibly never will be:

And he had a stride like this:

And the rest of the field was so far back--had the race been much later it would of taken a search light to find every runner behind him.

And his rider, in disbelief, had to glance at the infield timer.

DON'T EVER FORGET HIM; ITS PRETTY MUCH IMPOSSIBLE TO DO SO.

You didn't read the article did you?

He did lose his next race.

Actually, he did not. He won in the Arlington Classic on June 30 before his infamous defeat in the Whitney.

what about zippy chippys losing streak-at least it brought people to finger lakes when he ran! 0-96?

Gentlemen, let's clear something up. Please, if you'll read the article,

the record is about his time in one race, not what he did at any point thereafter.

There is one more record that is not likely to ever be broken.

In July 2001, your very own thaskalos decided to test a new and promising pace handicapping idea.

Being the courageous player that I am, I threw caution to the wind and proceeded to test this idea out with real money...without investigating its merit.

I placed 73 win bets over a span of 8 consecutive days...and never cashed a ticket.

And you lived through it, came out the other side and were man enough to tell it. How incredible is that? Yes, you did set a record Thask. Right in keeping with honesty and bravery. :)

If Santa Anita's surface gets any faster, the Secretariat record will be broken.

No it won't. Not with only two races on the dirt in the first two days going over 7 furlongs.

Going fast early, and short, ain't too tough.

Going fast early, and staying long, tough.

We can look forward to the 1 1/2 Tokyo City Cup, G3 on March 24.

Look out, Red, your 2:24 flat for the 1 1/2 Belmont, G1's goin' down.

Always be proud, proud's fine. Still, Zippy Chippy and Secretariat?

Honey, the only thing the two had in common, they both had four legs. Small problem, though. One's worked, miraculously; the other's, barely.

Sorry to say, but your post made me feel better. I once had a string of 34 straight win bets without a cash, and I don't think any bet was a horse over 6-1. Even 1-5 shots weren't running for me. If I was smart, I should have rushed over to the casino and played the "don't pass" at the craps table, and with the same kind of luck, made a fortune. :bang:

The record for Triple Crown wins is 1.

I don't think there will ever be a horse to win 2 Triple Crowns. ;)

That could easily be beaten if someone is dumb enough to race a horribly slow horse 97 times. Luckily, most people care a little more about horses than to do that.

That records is bogus.
Zippy beat a harness horse and a baseball player.

The baseball player was doped...

That is a great list. I thought John Henry's 25 graded stakes wins would be on it.
