I find it hilarious they decided to conduct the interview in one of the E-4's...

Anything to add a layer of fear to the mix.

I find it interesting that you would consider any of this as comical. Wouldn't Iran's possession of a nuclear weapon concern you?

I thought Islam has consistently been marketed by the Left as the religion of peace, no?

Yeah, Boxcar......the religion of pieces!

Hey, did you hear today, the Sorry Arabians are teaching 10th graders how to kill Jews in their text books?

Its a complete scare tactic by the media... using a dinosaur from the Cold War to spread fear today...

As to your question the answer is no. If they are actively pursuing one which in of itself is debateable I hope they get one before the election as it will bolster Republican support.

A nation that has had two neighbors invaded by us as well as 3 other nuclear powers in its region wanting to acquire nuclear capability doesn't really concern/shock me.

I'm not a big fan of posturing and fearmongering in politics... case in point Rick Santorum in the last debate discussing an Iranian Navy exercise where they simulate blocking the Straits of Hormuz and how it should be taken as a threat to U.S. security... sorry... but no...

Our navy is more capable than the rest of the worlds navies' combined and no matter who is in office if the Iranian government decided on such action within 24 hours they would no longer have a navy.... but fear sells.

If the automatic cuts kick in, our navy will re rolled back to 1918 levels.
With dems in office, you cannot count on a strong military.

That comment is complete hyperbole...

I don't think you quite understand the gross capability of our Navy. Pick up a JDW and take a look. We currently operate 11 CBG's. The gross tonnage of our navy is greater than the next 13 largest in the world combined.

Rolled back to 1918 levels?.... what does that even mean?

The Iranian Navy operates 4 "blue water" frigates and a few diesel/electric submarines... beyond that its patrol boats. As single one of our Ticonderoga class boats with proper support could wipe out their entire surface fleet single-handedly... we have 22 of them.

Again... fearmongering.

Would this account for why the U.S. government has implemented draconian, oppressive and tyrannical TSA rules for air travel? The government is selling fear to the American people?

Q- Do you know why the NEW Iraqi Navy has glass bottomed boats?

A- So they can look at the OLD Iraqi Navy.

Fine explain to me what 1918 levels mean...

Maritime history happens to be a favorite of mine and just so you know.... in November of 1918 the United States Navy was operating 774 ships per our register. Our register right now lists 284 ships... so either we need to build another 500 vessels, or, you are full of ____.

Yes. Earlier in this thread I pointed out the tastelessness of conducting the interview in the E-4B. A plane built in the 70's designed to be America's command center in the event of a Soviet-WP/US-NATO exchange. There is no point for it other than to shock people that such things exist.

Buckle up, boys and girls. Once all is said and done on the defense budget front, the United States could well be left with a military that makes our future dramatically different from our past.

Marine Commandant Gen. James Amos put the case for maintaining U.S. forward deployed forces as forcefully as a Marine might be expected to. He pointed to a Chinese hospital ship currently sailing in "our hemisphere" as an example of the kind of challenges the US might be expected to see should budget cuts reduce our ability to patrol the world's oceans and send Marines into harm's way at speed.
