I've scoured the internet up and down looking for some early reviews of the two new "high end" restaurants that were scheduled to be unveiled last Friday with the opening of the second floor level of the Aqu Racino. RW Prime is the steak place and Genting Palace is for Asian fare, with chefs brought in from Hong Kong! Both are supposed to have terraced views of the racetrack. The bigger question of course is, can you bet the ponies from your table or anywhere near it? My guess is no way, since they're not on the racing side of the building, but I'd love to be wrong about that.

Anyone been up to the second floor yet?

From a newly posted article here on PA about expected increases in average field size at NYRA....

"Hayward said NYRA has not yet seen crossover benefits of casino gamblers placing wagers on racing. But he said a state-of-the-arts sports bar and simulcast center in Aqueduct's Man O' War Room - and improvements in the tracks betting areas and WiFi for people to make horse bets at the Casino from their hand held devices - will help push what an oversight board member called "cross pollination" from the Casino to the horse racing side."

I suppose this tells us everything we need to know as to how "supportive" the Genting folks are about customers on THEIR side of the building betting on the ponies from their posh new eateries...or from anywhere on the gaming side.

But I guess I'll take the newly upgraded Man O' War Room....sounds pretty good.

PS: If anyone spots a customer on the gaming side of the building placing a wager on a horse race with a hand held device, post it here...so we can all keep tabs on the "cross pollination" progress. :D :bang:

They are probably going to go the same route that Keeneland and others are going

NYRA already has an app for the blackberry, and mobile wagering sites (m.nyra.com) for iPhones and Androids.

I've spent a few cards at the new casino bar and bet the ponies with my droid. The window is right by the big screen board showing the odds.

I had an opportunity to drop by the Aqu Racino early yesterday morning for a brief visit. I went up to the second floor around 8:15am to see where the two restaurants are located. The one featuring Asian Cuisine, Genting Palace, overlooks the racetrack in mid-stretch and has an outdoor terrace. A section of the same terrace can be accessed directly, without going into the restaurant, through a set of glass doors that open from a gaming area a bit further toward the finish line from the restaurant.

The other featured second floor restaurant, RW Prime, the steak place, faces the opposite side of the grandstand, ie. the backside parking lot. It is just a few steps across the gaming area from Genting Palace.

Unfortunately I was called away to a job after being there just a few minutes, but I plan on stopping by again soon. There is a huge sports TV screen on the second floor, as big as a movie screen. Overall, the place is simply gorgeous. Genting has spared no expense in transforning the Big A grandstand into a gaming enviornment that rivals anything in Vegas, except for the live table games. If Andy Cuomo has his way, they'll be on the way as soon as legally possible.

Chris Christie......are you taking notes?

I agree. I will add the food is good and the prices are reasonable.
