The late Jerome Brown was a member of the Miami team, coached by Jimmy Johnson, who showed up in fatigues for a dinner with the Penn State players before the championship game. Jerome took the mike and said (I think this is verbatim) "Did the Japanese go and sit down and have dinner with Pearl Harbor before they bombed them?" Apparently the big guy thought Pearl Harbor was related to Pearl Bailey.
