Can someone figure the payoffs for the show wagers on this two scenarios.

Total Pool
2ooo

horse A had 100 bet to show
horse B had 300 bet to show
horse C had 700 bet to show

next scenario

horse A had 100 to show

B had 200 to show
c had 500 to show

Giving net pool pricing....what are the payoffs for the show bets.

Good luck getting that answer! It was easy pre-netpool pricing, not so much now.

need track takeout (10%, 15%, 18%...)
and breakage (.05, .10)
and percentage pool from US sources (vs Canadian)
and minimum pay-out (2.20, 2.10)

for starters

DIME BREAKAGE IS STANDARD
AND TAKEOUT 17%
2.10

AND I GUESS 95% US MONEY

It's not difficult at all. I have a spreadsheet that does an excellent job, although it's not 100% correct. (That's because I assume that everyone is using the same takeout rates, which is usually not true.)

Needing to know the WPS takeout at the host track is the biggest missing piece of data.

For your first scenario, I got:

A: 6.60
B: 3.20
C: 2.20

And for the second:

A: 8.20
B: 4.80
C: 2.80

The only thing my ADW does decently is giving me their estimate of what range place and show prices will pay off. They are fairly accurate and there are times when it pays to make a place or show bet depending on the payouts.

A couple of years ago I was messing around with Plainridge harness using their tool. While you can only bet a few dollars some of the payout were really rewarding. I gave up on it took too much time.

I don't think it is that easy with net pool pricing.

Currently I dont watch the pools, just flat bet when my horses are bet under even money. Wondering if most of my profits are from overlaid show prices compared to the percentage they should have bet on them based on win odds. ..Who k nows.. but Percentage of show money seems to have a huge influence. 500 versus 700..Might just have to pick my pools closer.

Here's a pic of what mine shows. If you click on win all the WPS handles come up.

I have a copy of ITR68's program and it works very well. I also had an Excel sheet that made up, but it is on a dead computer. Once you know exactly how net pool pricing is figured it not that hard to get excel to figure it for you. My sheet was Excel 97 and I did not use Macros. If you know how to use macros, I think would pretty easy to set up.

Net pool pricing links

http://blog.twinspires.com/2011/03/net-pool-pricing-revised.html
http://www.nyra.com/Belmont/Handicapping/NYRAWagering/NYRAWagering.shtml
http://www.woodbineentertainment.com/Woodbine/Betting/USCommonPoolWagering/Pages/NetPoolPricing.aspx

My Overview
Prior to npp, the payouts were calculated using the total pool’s net dollars (gross less take out)
and payout horse’s gross dollars.

Npp payouts are calculated use total pool net dollars, and payout horse’s net dollars.
If all the participating jurisdictions mention in the NYRA link had the same take out, the calculation is simple enough (see the twinspires link for an excellent explanation).
The effort comes in when the participating jurisdictions have not only different takeouts but different monetary exchange rates.
The NYRA link perked my interest when it mentions that the exchange rate is determined when the bets are made and again when the payouts are made..
You can bet your bottom dollar (I guess that’s your last dollar) that someone has found an edge in that little tidbit.

The operative word in all of this is NET.
Net = track take outs, exchange rates.
Also affecting the payouts are the different participating jurisdictions breakages and their % of the entire pool.

okay next we need to know the 'net pool' total

you said the pool total was 2000

the net pool is after all the wagering sources take out their percentages, which may be more or less than the 17% you mentioned, and adjusting for exchange rate for the canadian

the net pool would probably be in the 1600 to 1700 range
