I just wrote an article about the failure of the Super Committee and the general no action Congress. Check it out and let me know what you think:

In the current fiscal year, which ends Sept. 30, taxpayers are spending $5.42 billion to run Congress. In fiscal year 2000, the same bill came in at $2.87 billion.

Increases as large as 868%. Spending increases of 70 percent, 80 percent, 100 percent and even 868 percent took hold across major parts of the institution over the past 10 years. Even those that saw the smallest increases went up by almost 40 percent or more.

Good work; I think you covered a lot of territory here, which is right on the mark in the sense that the supercommittee's inaction is representative of the failure of our elected officials in general.

I will say I'm not on the same page with you about Kyl; his stance on gambling in general pisses me off, and that keeps me from ever feeling sorry for him. Like the rest of these incumbents, he needs to get off the public dole.

With all due respect, you were wrong early one when you said:

Unfortunately, this fits right into President Obama’s game plan for reelection. He can simply blame Congress for all of the woes of the American people.

You should have qualified your statement and said that "he can simply blame the Republicans."

Many people knew MONTHS ago, this super committee nonsense would go nowhere. (Rush has been predicting this for weeks!) It was just the way for Obama and the Dems to kick the can down the road again. They were about as serious with this super duper committee as Obama was with his non-existent (for the longest time) "jobs bill" -- designed, again, to blame the Republicans for not passing it. (The irony of ironis is that it has had a really tough time getting out of a Dem-controlled Senate!)

Let's face it: Obama has to run on something. Negative campaigning is all he has left. And the negatives will not be with his own party. For this reason, you should have qualified your statement. ;)
