Eddie Davis used to drive at the Meadows too....think he drove for Jack Hollman's horses,,,the one that ran out like a gun to the front and open up until he tired was O Boy.....the announcers had a ball calling his races...no matter what Eddie did, O Boy would ran as fast as he could for as long as he could...Eddie just gave up trying to rate him and went along for the ride....he actually bottomed out the field before the half mile, would come home like 1:05 and still hold on as he had like a 30 length lead at the half mile pole...those were the days...

The most important thing about this game is money managment,,,,only bring the money that you would otherwise use for entertainment,,,,for me, I do not go to movies or have diners out,,,that money is used in my wagering account...If I have a great night (or day), will take out some money of the winnings and then do something with it that i usually don't do,,,that is go to the puppies in person instead of watching and betting online..Wheeling is only 45 miles from my home so that is where I take some of my winnings....

Yeah Ocean Downs was an interesting experiment, decent track and not too bad of wagering choices.

I was impressed with that world record set by that two year old trotter in August. Goo Goo Gaa Gaa is Maryland bred and is not staked anywhere else. Not much out there that can race with him. I loaded a video at youtube that night.

I see that. That race was run at Springfield, which is proabably the fastest mile track in the sport. I would of needed a record of 1:57 there to make that one live in my wagers. Sometimes we just know too much for our own good.

I was talking with my friend Randy the other day and we agreed that us gamblers have to be the most optimistic characters on the planet. No matter how bad a day we have at the races, we wake up the next morning feeling like today is the day I cash the big one!..

We left the Mountaineer racetrack one Monday afternoon (about 10 years or so ago when the raced in the afternoon) and some elderly gentleman was saying as he left the facility to the question as to why come to the races when you are on a losing streak? He said, "My worst day at the track is far better than my Best Day at work!"

Really don't see why we shouldn't as Balmoral tends to have a decent amount in its pools on Sunday as compared to those small pool tracks like the Meadows and Pompano that I play. Maybe instead of risking it till the end, we could reverse key in the late double using Oliver Brown, who knows, if we use the "all" button, we might catch a huge one? It has been my experience though over the years that when I do this, I rarely catch the big ones,,,usually the chalk. Except one time on Adios week, Tuesday night's early Daily Double...Back wheeled Eddie McNeight on a buster and caught both the first race with Willie Provost and Eddie in the 2nd,,think it was like a 9-9 dd which paid over $390 for a $1 wager.

You never know Richard until they open the gate...some of best picks (highest paying) have been on cards that I had very little faith in once the racecard started. On other days, I was anxious for the races to start as I knew I was going to have a great day and poof,,,one accident in the first race took out two of my main drivers on the card and I was done...You just don't know what is in store for us until it happens. I love that aspect of the sport. Just to quote "Trotter" in Let It Ride, "You just never know!"

Going with the chalk (# 2) Rego Park. Came home nicely from bad post. Meets a field that I fear only one other...that is 2nd time starter, (# 4) Bufford Tee Justice.

Race 2:
(# 1) Instant Glide and (# 6) Itsasiam appear to be the sharpest and should complete a otherwise low paying daily double.
