CURRENCY WARS THE MAKING OF THE NEXT GLOBAL CRISIS authored by renowned expert JIM RICKARDS

i have just got done reading this fascinating historical piece of work. JIM RICKARDS not only sets you up with the base, creating foundations from back to 1920 and brings to the the current date but also predicts what might happen going further. he goes into the reasons why the world made mistakes that led to the great depression from 1929-1939, how the world got out of it, and how it led to world war 11. he takes you into the bretton woods accord, and talks about the nixon days, and brings you to a hyper inflationary period between 1977-1981.

this is going to be a great book for christmas presents for those people that find the need to know what is going on around them these days and the reasons why.

The China Bust: Tic Toc
Mises Daily: Monday, October 10, 2011 by Kel Kelly

China is in the process of allowing its currency to rise. The reason for this is to address the worsening inflation rates in the country. Allowing the yuan to rise will indeed stop, or slow, inflation, but the way this fix works is not the way that is usually assumed. Neither will the effects of this policy be what most observers assume, i.e., just milder inflation. Instead, it will be an outright economic bust.

The currency world is definitely one worth watching. I was reading an article not too long ago that some political/financial people in Iceland were considering adopting the Canadian Dollar... weird stuff. I'll post the article link if I can find it...

I just ordered 'Currency Wars' last night, looking forward to reading it. I saw an interview featuring the writer and Jim Grant a few days ago and it sounded interesting.
