It's the freaking holiday season and monmouth is still running

I mean even before the elite meet crap, they never ran this long, did they? I mean it kinda defeats the whole point of the oceanside meet bit doesn't it when it's 20 degrees outside the day before thanksgiving and you are still running

Next year it will be privately run hopefully by Mr Bailey. Next year the meet will face competition from NY and Parx. Both of those tracks will fight it out with huge purses. The extra meet aka Meadowlands at Monmouth Meet which added only 6 race days ends next Sunday. The races are the same type we saw the last 6 racing days at the Meadowlands so there is no need to try and compare the 2010 meet to what is going on now. In additon the voters of NJ have approved sports betting(66%) which will get more people out to the track, once the federal ban is lifted and as of today it looks favorable that it will be. MP will be around for quite a long time to come. Enjoy it!

Thoroughbred horse racing at the Meadowlands stopped in 2009 it ran from September 3rd through November 10th that year. In 2010 racing at MP ended on November 21st.

I was at Monmouth yesterday and was told by the most senior mutuel clerk there that the 6 extra days were finalized on Wednesday by Christie....Monmouth did not want to run the extra days but had to or risk losing them next year.

That was on track only. All sources they had a handle of $110,981 in the first race alone.
