While Keats was not thinking about worldly things, I think this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWnTX8IjBP4) is worthy of the opening line of his poem.

Digital watches (which I have and use) and cells phones are functional but they aren't the same.

Digital watches (which I have and use) and cells phones are functional but they aren't the same.Cool. But magnitudes below organic systems. Then again organic systems have had the advantage of billions of years of "R & D" no matter your view on ultimate origins.

One of the things that strikes me is the difference in scale that allows miniature systems to function. Sort of like knowing the special effects of the old Japanese monster movies (love 'em) didn't work because the universe operates differently for a man in a dinosaur suit 6 ft tall, than how a real godzilla 100 ft tall and a few hundred tons would actually move. Just imagine those nifty ulra thin watches blown up to godzilla scale. Could never move the same. In fact could never be built.
