1st play from scrimmage- Ray Rice goes 70+ yards for a TD. Holding on Torrey Smith - IMO a weak call - how do the Ravens then have 1st and ten as opposed to 1st and 20 ?

Holding is from the spot of the foul, so it happened ten yards down field.

Two weak calls already....

This looks like LSU/'Bama at the pro level !

Didn't you just know at 16-6, the Steelers were going to drive right down the field and score a TD. Even picked up a 3rd and 17. :bang:

Didn't you also know the Ravens would not pick up that last first down midway through the 4th quarter, which would have put them at least field goal range? And didn't you know Flacco would hold onto the ball too long and create the needed turnover for the Steelers?

Tough to watch the rest here. 6:45 left, Steelers driving.

ON EDIT: second tipped ball by a ravens defender that results in a sizeable Steelers completion. Time for some luck the other way.

If the steelers win by 4 I'm gonna jump off a bridge. Any other outcome would be ok. Held a bet at balt +4, then decided to put it in and the line went to 3.5. Even when it was 16-6 I could foresee 20-16 final.

Shocking that Steelers touchdown. Shocking.

When things go bad in life its impossible to stop it. I can't friggin believe they are gonna win by 4.

Same here. Would it kill Cameron to call a pass on 1st or 2nd down in that drive up 16-13? Every series, he takes it to 3rd and 5, 3rd and 7, 3rd and 8. They picked up a bunch, but how about playing aggressive fore once?

He has insufficient confidence in Flacco, like the rest of the team.

The defense can't complain, though. They suck too when it counts. Is it illegal to put an actual pass rush on Roethlisberger?

It was like they werent trying the 2nd and 9 run was horrible. I foresee Baltimore going all the way down the field now and flacco doing something dumb to break my heart

Can't believe the defense Pitt played there. They kept rushing extra guys and didn't come close to Flaco. Should have dropped 8 into coverage.

Flacco played very well tonite...clutch drive.
Tough loss & many decisions in this game to ponder, but it doesn't matter.
Good job by the Ravens.

And so ends a wild sports weekend for me filled with great horseracing, overtime college football btw LSU & Bama, and a Sunday night heartbreaker for the Steelers....i need a glass of red zin before bed.

Wasnt his fumble the reason for the 92 yard drive.

If tomlin had run the ball on 3rd and four instead of throwing this isnt a conversation,or if Tomlin had decided to go for the field goal and clinched the game isnt a conversation, dont forget the Flacco fumble gave life back to the steelers.
The guy is completing 54 % passes in a league where they have turned it into the CFL,keep buying the Flacco stock i have sold mine a long time ago.Rememeber to post when he goes 13 for 25 for 192 yards and 2 ints.
But give him credit some good solid throws in that drive and the recivers even droppped a couple.

How does going for a field goal up 4 clinch the game?

Your right it wouldve made it 23 the worst was overtime,cj when Hostler and dilfer won super bowls the game was different you cant win a super now with qb who manages football games you need to be elite

I'm a Giants fan, I wouldn't call Eli elite. I wouldn't call Brad Johnson even good. Sure, having a great QB doesn't hurt. How could it? But it isn't everything.

I will say not kicking the FG was a dumb ass move. Since when is an NFL team afraid of a 47 yard field goal?

Not plowing ahead on 3rd down to shorten the FG was my problem. It either forces Balt to use their last TO or let the clock run to almost the 2min warning. I think they went 5 wide on first down and the TE Johnson dropped a pass...can't remember though.
I swear these coaches need to hire a "common sense" guru to help them make sensible decisions sometimes and manage the clock...i think my 13yr old nephew is a good candidate.
He manages the clock in Madden like a pro...knows when to call his TO and when to make you spend yours.

I haven't seen all the Steelers games, but that is the first time I've seem Tomlin make that many gaffes in one game. It is almost like he choked. Why in the world did he challenge a 5 yard completion? It cost a timeout, then they gave up the first down anyway!

A few years back he made some bad moves in a playoff loss to the Jaguars.

4th quarter, Steelers down 15pts and they scored a TD...Tomlin decided to go for two now instead of hopefully after the next TD (if it comes). The pass was complete for the conversion but a holding penalty negated it. Now the ball is on the 12yd line...obviously you kick it now and go for two next time right?
Not Tomlin...still went for two and the pass was incomplete.
wtf?

Never, I don't think. But a 52-yard field goal, which is what this one would have been, is an entirely different matter. Not only five key yards further, but also five yards closer to the end zone for the Ravens if/when you miss it.

Absolutely the right move to punt it to make the Ravens go 90 yards. I had Balt, and was praying they tried to kick the field goal.

Mabye I'm remembering wrong, but I thought they were punting before the 5 yard penalty.

I'm a big fan of the towels not the Steelers. I'm not 100% sure but all the profits may go to charity. If not all then a very large sum.

Proceeds from sales of the Towel have raised over US$3 million for Allegheny Valley School Pennsylvania which cares for people with mental disabilities and physical disabilities.
