Credit unions are a great deal and probably do more to aid the local community that any of the giants.

This is at least one area where I agree with the occupy movement. It is actually something I did many years ago after listening to Catherine Austin Fitts.

I'm twelve years ahead of them... they lost me when they started charging people to cash my checks with the accompanying extortionist promises to waive the fee if they just took an hour and opened an account... don't be assholes to people and maybe they'll open an account, or in my case, close all of them.

Still a lot of reasons to move your accounts: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/banks-quietly-ramping-costs-consumers-121507286.html

it's a lot easier to just go to Vegas, they'll cash your check, then all you have to do is to put the money into their nice littlwe Machines:kiss:

I went to a Wells Fargo bank were I made deposits of 5-10k for my company daily. I want to cash a payroll check from that company drawn on a different bank at the company head quarters in Cleveland. They asked me if I had an account there and when I said no, they refused to cash it even though they knew the company had several hundred of thousands of dollar on deposit there. Then I remembered that I had an account with Wells Fargo that had been dormaint for over year with $3 in it. When I told them that, they checked and then they cashed the payroll check. I also remembered why the account with them was dormaint. They are first class a-holes.

I opened a business account with Wells Fargo about 15 years ago. I was partners with another dude. AFTER we opened the account with my check for $45K I get a letter in the mail a week later saying they checked out credit and because he had bad credit they were closing the account. It took me another 3 weeks for them to issue me back a cashiers check for my $45K. Unreal.

Why didn't they tell us in the branch when they opened the account they don't want money from people who have blemishes on their credit report. Besides we were giving them money. Not the other way around.

I see no reason to support any banks.
Banks do not support us. Screw them.
We should pick a bank and create a run on it.....Occupy This! movement.

I switched from a few of the big banks to some local credit unions and banks a few years ago. The big banks made me schedule appointments to get my money. It makes you realize just how little control you really have.
