For those who haven't seen it -- and I do not believe that there is a thread devoted to this yet -- the Daily Racing Form and Jay Privman have produced another interesting "Q&A" with a racing personality: Steve Byk.

http://www.drf.com/news/qa-steve-byk

It's a wonderful read -- get out your dictionary, it's Byk-- and I suspect it will ellicit response here.

If you haven't met Byk, you will find him around the Carolina Barbecue tent at Saratoga selling deliciously processed meat, and hosting daily Thorograph seminars.

He is a good dude.

A dictionary? Maybe I missed something........

He puts up with assholes like me stopping him in the parking lot of Saratoga when he is dragging his stuff out to the parking lot after a long day.

To return the favor I was sitting in the parking lot at work this morning at 6:45a listening to his show on Xm radio. I think he is getting the short end of this Faustian bargain.

His show grows on you............

It's a wonderful read --

don't know about it being a wonderful read...

It sure is neat that a guy who posts here occasionally has a radio show, and also neat that said guy has a Q&A in the DRF.

Congrats. It has to be very cool to get featured like that in the DRF.

sorry to the board for following up an off-topic post(curiosity),
but Jelly; can you expand your point?

Does this guy show a poor gambling Selections record??(I'm guessing he announces selections, because he has a radio show and you mention them...), also what does the 26% takeout of the pick-4 plays have to do with him being a bad gambler??

jelly obviously believes that anyone who would bet into a 25% take is a bad gambler by default. Not sure why that needs explaining. It's pretty obvious what his intent was.

Now, don't take my reply here as meaning I agree or disagree with jelly.

I can see betting a high takeout bet once in a while if you have a good read on it.
But to continually bet into a pick4 (NY)at 26% when you have the option of a pick4 with (Monmouth)15% to me that's bad gambling.

A pick-4 payout of $370.00 at NY pays $425.00 at Monmouth.

Over time That adds up to a lot of money.

Nothing better than doing something you love. Few are better examples than Byk and SerLingsalot.

Cardus may need a dictionary for the piece but anyone over 9 should have no trouble.

While there is no accounting for taste, I strongly urge SB to reconsider his zest for Depeche Mode.

Byk has a good show - lots of good topics covered.

Byk himself......does it get any better than this?

His job is talking to his friends for three hours a day.
Then he watches races for eight hours.
Then he handicaps races for six hours.

On Saturdays, he is on TV.
He owns horses and goes to the track to watch them run.
He married a girl who works at the track.

And when he drinks beer, he drinks Dos Equis.
