Have any of you done this from W98 - not SE? Are there any tips you have?

My tip is to do a full install on a clean hard drive. You can if you have a disk with Win 98 on it.

If you don't want to wipe your old drive, back it up onto disk and run the install. It may offer you the option of keeping the old operating system and running both. I have done that with success. But.....if you have never done it.........make sure you backup anything you can't afford to lose.
