Handicapping on the Road, on sale at Ed Bain's site.
$25 plus you get Cramer's BC analysis, which I have personally made a ton of moolah using.

Book is about his travel by bike in Europe with 7 methods for playing horses.

I'll review it as soon as it arrives. It ships Friday, should be here mid next week.

excerpt:
"Mark Cramer has earned praise for both his horse racing and travel books. With Handicapping on the Road, he combines both realms. Last summer, Cramer, then 65 years old, set out on a 1,000-kilometerbicycle - race track journey through several regions of France, along with his companion, Alan, 59, a specialist in Asian art. The immediate goal was to raise money for the retirement of race horses, but Cramer was also using his handicapping methods, attempting to pay for the trip with his betting. Along the way, Mark and Alan would test their own stamina, sometimes in blistering heat. To make a point, they chose the same 21 days as theTour de France (two old-timers “competing” with Tour professionals). Cramer also vowed to cover the more than 600 miles with zero carbon emissions (unless you count the carbon dioxide the cyclers breathed out heavily on strenuous hills). The Loire wines along the way served as performance dis-enhancing substances, adding to the challenge.

Handicapping on the Road includes enough intriguing horse betting methods to satisfy Cramer’s loyal fans, but the travel adventure, stamina test and"

It is a really good read. I got a lot out of it, because I sometimes play European races as well.

Mark Cramer's Book

I personally got a lot out of the book. First, it is well written. Secondly, I use his ideas on an experiment basis as I play Australia as well UK using some of his ideas he employed successfully.

If you strictly look at this book as one to profit from any one of his seven methods (systems or whatever) then you will miss the the point of the book. Though I am not suggesting that one needs to ignore it .The book is as much about the humanity one shows for our most beloved creature, a race horse as it is to gain from his experiences when handicapping European horses during BC competition etc. .

IMO Mark showed and aptly describes the third element he casually talks about in the book is the relationship between his winnings and paying for his (their) trip across the French landscape and the purpose of such undertaking. I for one strongly believe that the racing gods do have a soft corner for those who care that the horses have a good after life once their career ends in racing. I subscribe to his intuition.

Personally, I enjoyed reading it and strongly recommend for anyone who is interested in knowing a little about European horse racing, people who care about the race horse and racing like Mark and his companions showed in this book.
