Been to New Orleans and Atlanta a number of times. Completely enjoyed the visits each time -- as long as I could get indoors and get out of the hot and humid weather during the summer. I would move to a southern major metro area without to much hesistation.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Let's see if I got this right. People are moving south to save money. And businesses are moving south to save money. People like our man Habib here doesn't want to pay taxes. And businesses like those foreign car manufacturers he mentioned don't want to pay workers. So everybody is goin' south.

Go south and get whatever crummy job is being offered by companies that went south so they could pay you less. And just remember this: Don't ever try to unionize or do anything else that might get you too much money or better benefits. Because the next move your newly-located southern company will make is down Mexico way or maybe the Philippines. Isn't life grand?

Then there is such a thing called a standard of living. If you don't mind the fact that many of your fellow Mississippians don't make $37G's a year per household or that 22% live below the poverty line, then I guess it's easy for a guy like Habib to enjoy that $400G mansion and low property taxes in Oxford. (I won't even mention the great education those low property taxes buy in Mississippi.)

You know some people actually live in or near places like Paris, London, and New York City for a reason. But like anything else that's nice in life, it's expensive to do so.

At any rate, Habib chose to become a big fish in a small pond. Good for him. (shrug)

Let me guess, you have NO backing that indicates loot buys a better education.

In fact, I can show you scores of examples showing the COMPLETE opposite.

Shall we?

I'm arranging a scholarship for my cousin Pookie as we speak. If you so much as hint that his English is too weak to qualify him for collitch, I'll have you brought up on hate crime charges. :p

You know, at some point you will be standing around wondering who the hell is going to pay for all your bullshit in NJ....... it's already happening. Tolls going sky high, property taxes through the roof etc. You talk about better education? Even the best of the best in this country sucks. Putting a dollar value on education is a tricky proposition.......but Mack is right .........money won't and can't buy a good education....just by throwing money at the problem. It has been proven over and over.........

There is a limit you know? People just get tired of paying at some point

One thing is for sure. Money is not buying a good education in Mississippi.

I've got no problem with people who move to Mississippi because they can't afford to live in NJ. But I do have a problem with leeches like Habib who move to Mississippi so they can live like kings while most of their fellow Mississippians live just above the poverty line.

And, for the record, you have it backwards. NJ residents pay through the nose in federal taxes to assist states like Mississippi - not vice-versa. The day Mississippi federal tax dollars actually fund something in NJ won't happen in our lifetime.

FYI, Mississippi gets back $2.03 for every dollar in federal tax it sends to Washington. New Jersey gets back 61 cents for every dollar in federal tax it sends to Washington. In fact, NJ gets back less than every other state in the nation while Mississippi is #2 when it comes to financial assistance from Washington. *

Just so you know, Ralph, people in NJ "just get tired of paying at some point" so leeches like Habib and those foreign car manufacturers can pay less taxes in states like Mississippi.

Hey NJ how can you complain that MISS gets more in Federal aid and NJ gets less. That is exactly what the modern progressive wants. The rich to help the poor no matter the cost. How about the modern CPA who helps people to pay as little tax as the law allows? Is he a leech?

Melman, you raise fair points.

My reason for bringing up Mississippi being on federal tax welfare is because Ralph was moaning about "You know, at some point you will be standing around wondering who the hell is going to pay for all your bullshit in NJ.......". That statement is BS and I just want to make sure people like so.cal.fan know that it is BS. Even though she may prefer not to believe it.

Sounds like NJ needs to raise taxes to make ends meet.

I understand some people are leaving to avoid taxation. That doesn't change what I posted in Post #7. Having said that, I misunderstood your first sentence in Post #11. I thought you were saying that the rest of the country is picking up the tab for the high cost of living in NJ.

Sorry I misunderstood your point in Post #11, Ralph.
