Wow...he actually ticked up from 4/5?

Seriously, anyone taking those odds must be insane...even money? With this economy? And this track record?

What am I missing?

After a declaration of "100 years of Democrat rule" following 2006 and 2008, the Republicans take back the House, a Republican wins Ted Kennedy's seat in Massachusetts, and most recently, a Republican wins Anthony Weiner's spot here in blue-as-it-gets NYC...and they still have him at 1-1?

You gotta be shittin' me...

What you're missing is large numbers of stupid people. VERY large numbers. You're missing the affect of class warfare strategy on those people. You're missing the willingness of those people to believe that racism is the cause for the dislike of Obama despite what he's done to the economy.

Looks about right, Actor

They'll slap some lipstick on Willard ... hook him up with someone like Shelly B. to try and appease the out-of-control 'baggers ... and take their best shot at the MACHINE...

If you don't think that Obama should be even money find a way to get your money down. This is board of people who regularly put their money where their mouth is. I think the odds are about right on Obama. The odds on Romney are bit high(I think that 8/5 would be a fair price) but not enough for me to get excited about. A bet on Rick Santorum even at 250-1 is giving your money a way.

I think these odds are from an offshore book with predominantly European or Caribbean betters. Without an emotional investment in the race they are probably seeing the Republican field as weak. They are also looking at the low approval ratings of congress which is mostly Republican.

I guess so. They're also ignored by many of his supporters on this board.

NONE of those posted on the Republican/Con side has a shot in hell of winning other than Romney. (http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/president_obama_vs_republican_candidates.html)

Many of them are simply frightening to the voters because of their oddness or Con excesses and Perry clearly doesn't have the right smarts. There are others (no NOT Palin) that would have low odds, but thus far none of them are willing to come forward.

PA, the President has the power of incumbency. Difficult to lose. However, I do take the point that if there are not significant upticks in the economy before the start of 2012, he's in some difficulty.

Have you looked at BO's approval ratings? They have basically been in nothing but a downward trend since the start of his presidency.

I don't know where you guys get your optimism from. Most of the electorate isn't as "tuned in" as we are, so they tend to miss all the negative nuances you pick up about the opposition.

Obama has to worry about more than just Romney in the current field.

"Frightening" voters...come on man...you must be joking, or watching way too much MSNBC. You're in too deep...can't see the forest for the trees...the big picture is WAY more ominous for Obama than you realize...

I've got 100 hypothetical dollars to bet on B.O. if you give me 1.5/1 U.S. odds. That means I bet $100 to make a profit of $150. If I win you give me $150. If I lose I give you $100.

Anyone care to make a hypothetical bet? Winner gets bragging rights. :)

And if you want to bet real money we can work something out. If you're uncomfortable, we can do it via PM.

For the record, I will be happy to send my hypothetical $100 to a trusted third party to hold until the election has been decided.

PA, the President has the power of incumbency. Difficult to lose. The voters have turned out the sitting Prez in two of the last five opportunities to do so; three of six if you count Ford's loss as an unelected incumbent. That doesn't sound so difficult.
