I may have to go on-track, yes and waste 3 dollars to get in. I was wondering. I play Woodbine and - New York - Northern And Southern Calif. Will they allow us to bet the first 3 races at Woodbine and Belmont now ? Or are they going to open up at 10 : 30 Like idiots and shut us off from the first 3 races and are they even going to be open on Wednesday for Simulcasting- I believe Pomona is open Wednesday and Santa Anita, will still be closed. Any info ?

Try any of the indian casinos. You'll have to put up with smoking but the price of admission is just right.

just a couple races from both pen and wo on wednesday and zero races from ct? pen and ct show (and take bets on) ALL of california's races.

Fast answer;no. When California expanded their simulcast schedule recently many otb site regulars were hopeful that at last we would be able to bet the early races and would get complete cards. No such luck. Instead we have been given more tracks with more partial chopped up schedules. Think 11:00 AM Pacific Time, that is when California usually starts its simulcast day. That means the 3rd race at New York and Woodbine are the first tracks that can be wagered on, along with the 1st races from the Mid Western tracks. In the winter when tracks go back to earlier starts this may change, it is unknown at this time. On a few days when NYRA and WO starts later we may then get the early races. On days when WO races at night we get the early races but the last half of the card is chopped off. The simulcast schedule for the month is available online in pdf, suggest consulting the website of the facility you plan on attending. The Indian casinos that have otb are no different from other sites, they are on the same menu. Fairplex, Los AL, Barona, and Sycuan are open 7 days a week. On days when California does not race there is quite a hodge podge of different tracks offered. In order to wager on any track any race in California there really is only two choices; open an ADW account and wager online or get in your car and drive to Nevada and patronize their racebooks.

They practically force us just to stay home. We can go on track and wait ouside the gate at 10 A.M to get the early races. But I depend on the odds boards for wagers. If Woodbine Race 2 has the odds I am looking for I can wager over the phone. But even that is difficult. Many have reported- Cell Phones being jammed, those damn race tracks. And they wonder, why no one goes there. Skipping the first 2 races, do they think we are just stupid idiots who bet anything ? . We wait for our spots and many times. The first 2 races, 3 races, those spots do come up. And they wonder why no one goes on track ?

It would seem that the Powers That Be have determined that California fans are unable to get out of bed early enough to make it to the track in time to bet the early races from the Eastern tracks. :rolleyes: With some tracks such as Calder and Philly starting as early as 12:25, which is 9:25 Pacific, and more tracks going to earlier starts when we return to standard time, will be interesting to see what comes up. Myself and several others I know would be delighted to arrive around 9, catch up on the late changes, and settle in to bet the early races. According to the spin, the operators say that it is not cost effective to open early, and the long standing standard comment is that, "most of our customers bet on California races only, not on other tracks", which is pure bunk. So for now, we get complete cards for California, complete cards for a few selected Mid West tracks, partial cards from a few Eastern tracks, partial cards from the Canadian tracks, plus they throw a few South American races at us, which only compulsive gamblers bet on, and sometimes at night Australia comes in. This hodge podge screwball schedule is the reason yours truly enjoys trips out of the state. There is the enjoyment of the trip itself, the getting away part, plus the practical aspect. A well run Nevada racebook is like a horseplayers hog heaven, often offering wagering on every track running in America that day. Have done a few quick checks on the simo schedule at other tracks websites, and a few of them are almost as extensive as Nevada books, almost all of them are better than what Californa gives its players.
