Barry,

Thanks for sharing. I had no idea that there were so many serious programs out there. This is a really good resource.

Thanks again,

Dick

What about Sartin's Validator? It's supported by www.trackmaster.com
Are you grinding your axe?

Here's three decent ones you missed: Contenders, Aplus, and STK-In my test these three outperformed quite a few on the list. i can't say that i ahve tested them all though.

BYW all three ahve web sites.

The list of programs was not all-encompassing, but simply covers most (though not all) of the programs on the market.
Re Lefty's comment: The Sartin programs are listed in the above list under "Sartin programs," along with a website and phone number.

Barry missed mine too. I use HTRF (as do 3 others around here according to our poll). It has its limits, but I find it an excellent tool, especially the morning line.

Do you use the freeware of the $85 version? Most people who post on the HTRF site say the bottom of the sheet with the BRIS figs is the best part of it.

I dont use it, but what I like what I've seen is it lets you look at different lines. Very few other programs let you do that -- that's my big complaint about programs, including HTR and HSH: they all average multiple lines. I want to like at up to 5 lines seperately.

Believe it or not, PA's old program did that and I actually made a profit (9%) using it because of that. I never made money averaging the pacelines.

Does anybody know of any programs that let you look at the lines and print them out seperately?

I use the $85 registered version. It is a dos program which really doesn't bother me too much. When you run through the races it shows you the last 6 lines of the horses and you can choose any number of them. Personally I use the best of the last 2 at the distance, but go back further when there is an excuse.

Now there are some major drawbacks. It makes no track to track allowances. (Jim tried to get that set up using Dave's pars, but it didn't work out. I wouldn't mind if he'd just put in something that would allow me to make some adjustments on the screen when necessary) I make adjustments manually after I get the printout. Also some of the distance to distance adjustment smay not fit your track. But a lot of the time I have a race where all the horses are from the current track with current form at the diatance. That is when the odds line seems very powerful to me.

The BRIS ratings at the bottom are good. Also it has a switch which allows you to turn on or off the BRIS track variant.

Last year I worte a topic about how I couldn't pick a route for the life of me. Using HTRFs odds line this year and betting when I like the horse and it is a solid overlay has made my route performance get MUCH better.

Still I wish I could make some of my own adjustments like:

TRACK to TRACK
DISTANCE to DISTANCE
my own track variants

Was well worth the $85 to me!

BMeadow,

Of course I'm disappointed that you didn't list CompuTrak.

C'est la vie!

Andycap,

Syndegism will let you look at as many lines as you like.

The original MPH by Brohammer will let you look at
multiple pace lines if you use the manual entry mode.
I don't know about the version trackmaster sells.

It's also a matter of organization. My ideal software would allow me to look at up to 5 individual lines in a variety of pace/speed configurations and sort them how I wanted in a wide variety of ways. And it wouldn't take me 2 months to learn. I have about 90 minutes a day max to work on racing.

Right now my DOS program computes my 5 BRIS formulas and gives me a printout of my formulas sorted by horse. So it's limited. I could probably dump it into a spreadsheet and use that to sort, but I'm too lazy/busy to learn.
