...how much a handicapper in the newspaper gets paid for his analysis? Also, are there any good newspaper handicappers in the U.S.?

What would you consider a measurement of good handicapping by a public handicapper?

Nick Kling in the Saratogian is good in my opinion. He usually shows a profit with his longshot daily selections throughout a meet.

I have no idea what any of them are paid.

our own tonyk@hsh was a very good newspaper handicapper for the harrisburg patriot back when they provided picks for penn national. unfortunately the paper discontinued this feature a few years back.

my old buddy, JIMMY THE GREEK, use to have a syndicated sports line that went all over the country, he used to get $25 a week per newspaper for "the greeeks line" if any of you remember. he also got paid $25000 per year to walk around in nike sneakers back in the 1980's.

I was once the newspaper handicapper doing Beulah Park for the Columbus Dispatch. I got a free Racing Form everyday from the track. If I got paid anything, it might have been $5 or $10 per day, from the track itself; but I don't think I did. I got nothing from the newspaper. I can't imagine it's gone up much since then.

Ah yes, memories of Jimmy the Greek betting at the $50 window under the shed at Saratoga.
Attired in Nikes, a workout suit and a few gold chains.

Ron Uchman publishes selections in the Sun-Times for Arlington and Hawthorne, and actually does quite well. I don't follow them regularly but he does keep stats there of the previous day. His "best bet" is usually right on and ends the day with a record of at least 3-4 winners from 9-10 races, sometimes at good prices.
One day he had a 10-6/3/1 record.

I don't follow these guys much but if this guy puts a horse in there I might take a second look if I'm making a horizontal bet.

Eng, Review Journal guy, i dont use anyone, but i can say that at least He (ENG,Richard) won the Orleans contest some years ago, mid 2000s (?) .

the problem these guys have, along with attempt at too many plays, they pic em early.

Mcquigen (?) LasVegas also, radio show, while he passes plays at the (henderson ? casino), last week he goes with three pic four winners, one was for $8000, i know he does his work...yep.
