Today (Saturday) the DuQuoin State Fair marks the 30th anniversary of the inaugural World Trotting Derby. It is now the 2nd year since its demise. A milestone day for me, and its worth a mention. The purse was always rich, approaching 500k a few times. Many Hambo winners started, and many divisional winners took the crown. The first one was won by a filly actually, catch driven for Stanley Dancer by.......gonna miss that wonderful stake, as it marked the end of the fair curcuit and time to start thinking about the Kentucky Futurity preperations.
