Going to start something new here, just for my own record-keeping and taking into account increasing bet size and everything.

I will start each wagering day (not daily, but most Thursdays-Sundays) with $1,000 and bet it using all types of available wagers. There are no rules to the amount wagered per bet, type of bet, tracks, or required minimum/maximum per bet. Some days the whole $1,000 may be used, some days not, but $1,000 is the maximum.

Daily and rolling P/L will be reported and tracked. Plan on going 30 days and then evaluate from there.

SAR R7
Looking at the #1-Seattle Mission as my main play of this N1X NY-bred allowance. He has shown versatile running patterns in the past but is a bit hard to trust in terms of getting the win down with his 9-1/5/1 record. Thinking Velasquez could get away with sending to the front from the 1 hole but also not worried if he gets shuffled in.
$20 WIN #1, $50 PLACE #1.

SAR R9
This G3 restricted to 3YO fillies has a few good runners in here and should make it a competitive heat, narrowed it down to the #2-Jealous Girl, #3-A Z Warrior, #6-Hot Summer, #8-Valiant Passion, and #9-Roman Treasure. However, overall, there is a lot to like about the #8-Valiant Passion which is my top pick for the race. Team Valor likes to win so there's no doubt she's well meant in this race and has a 3-2/0/1 record over the Spa main track and has been working steadily between there and Fair Hill for Graham Motion.
$50 WIN/PLACE #8 ($100), $10 EXACTA 8/1+2+9 ($30) $10 DOUBLE R9/10 1+2+3+6+8+9 / 7 ($60)

SAR R10
There's no doubt #7-Sassy Image has been on the top of her game recently and is in great form coming off 3 consecutive victories now and I expect her to sit off the pace here and coming flying late as she did in the last 3.
$100 WIN #7

SAR R11
#2-Caleb's Posse is often overlooked but fits here well. He performs well off the pace and shows he enjoying the return to one-turn after reeling off a 4 length victory in his last running 6.5 furlongs. Uncle Mo and Flashpoint will likely take most money, so Caleb's Posse is again overlooked at the windows.
$50 WIN/PLACE #2 ($100)

SAR R12
I'm taking a look at two overlooked, developing runners in the Travers, #6-Raison d'Etat and #8-J W Blue, both have improving figures and are well meant. Taking small shots at a good score with there.
$25 WIN #6 + #8 ($50)

AP R2
In this $5k claimer there is not much to like but based on form, #3-Pescadoro fits coming in from Prairie Meadows. Not sure why ET Baird is listed as riding as he is off to Saratoga to ride Romacca.
$20 WIN/SHOW #3 ($40)

AP R8
In this N1X IL-bred restricted race, #8-Modesta has had a lot of trouble in her recent races although having fair races on the turf. Her Beyers aren't much (which disagree with the Rags that say she's something to consider) and I think she gets overlooked at the windows again giving 10-1 or more.
$20 WIN/PLACE #8 ($40), $50 SHOW #8

AP R10
#1-Line It Up is a Forest Wildcat filly trying this turf sprint for the first tie. 1st time blinkered and on turf for Catalano makes this a place. Also has ET Baird listed so wondering what rider she ends up with.
$100 WIN #1

ELP R8
This MSW for 3YOs and up has some competitive horses in here likely trying to find a spot easy enough to win. #8-Son of a General tries turf for the first time and being by Mineshaft, he should take it well. Other contenders include the 5,6,7,9
$20 WIN/PLACE #8 ($40), $5 EXACTA 8/5+6+7+9+10 ($25)

DMR R4
$40k Claimer for 4YOs and up, I went with recently claimed #2-Hudson Landing who showed a convincing win performance in the last and comes to the barn of Jeff Bonde.
$30 WIN #2, $50 SHOW #2

DMR R5
#1- He Be Fire N Ice not only shares a name likeliness with two runners at Saratoga (one of which won the 2nd today, who knows about Ruler On Ice), was extremely impressive in his first off 1 year off at Del Mar in the last. Joe Talamo takes the reigns again and stretches out to a mile which is my only concern. Still will play considering the M/L of 6-1, expecting 4-1 or less.
$25 WIN/PLACE #1 ($50)

Total Wagers = $935.00

Valiant Passion has scratched out of SARR9 so cancel the wagers in there but keep the double as follows
1+2+3+6+9 / 7 and increase to $20 Double -> $100

Total wagers now $845.00 for the day.

AP R1
This is one of the longer races Arlington has run on polytrack this year and #4-Akhmatova should love the distance, being 3 for 4 at it in Europe before coming here and running marginally well on Arlington's polytrack. Today he gets more distance and he gets my money.
$25 WIN/PLACE #4 ($50)

AP R7
#7-Officer Lex has been a hot horse in these lower claiming ranks after coming off a 2-year layoff for Frank Kirby. Then claimed two back by Tom Swearingen the horse ran an OK 4th next out considering it was 5.5f and previous races were at 6f. Now this closer goes back to 6 furlongs, the preferred distance, and looks at a fair pace to close into.
$50 WIN #7

AP R8
#10-Seeking the Coach comes off a convincing 5 length win on polytrack and now steps on the grass for this 5f turf sprint at $15k N2L. This horse fits being the distance is good and the horse is well-bred for the turf and doesn't meet the best horses today.
$40 WIN/PLACE #10 ($80), $10 EXACTA 10 / 2+5+6+12 ($40)

AP R9
#8-Santina Dond stunned the Million Day audience at Arlington by posting at 31-1 upset in the Hatoof Stakes. The horse comes back in this evenly-matched $30k starter allowance for 3YO fillies and as long as she can close as she did in her best races (and not go to the front), then it's hers for the taking.
$20 WIN #8, $50 SHOW #8 ($70)

CRC R3
The main contenders in the MSW on turf are the #1-Appella's Wonder and #10-Glory Park. Glory Park is coming 2nd off the layoff and has a top jockey aboard so thinking she'll take most of the money. Don't like the post or the works so I went with other top pick #1-Appella's Wonder with Luis Saez and Manuel Wayar (trainer) hitting a 43% jockey/trainer combo this year and last. Thinking this one sets up for them as long as they stay out of trouble.
$50 WIN/PLACE #1 ($100), $20 EXACTA 1+10/1+8+10 ($80), $10 EXACTA BOX 1+10 ($20)

CRC R5
I went with a higher priced horse that caught my eye dropping in for a tag and coming off two abysmal performances, #6-Ribo Bobo.
$20 WIN #6, $40 SHOW #6 ($60)

WO R1
#4-Mark's Soul looms a logical contender as he's returning to the polytrack and stretching out his polytrack distance to 1 1/8 miles which he should love.
$50 WIN/PLACE #4 ($100), $5 EXACTA 4 / 1+3+5 ($15)

WO R3
This 2YO race has many runners that could show some talent. Went with overlooked #10-Bridgeburner who worked fast at the OBS sale in march and is apart of first crop High Cotton.
$20 WIN/SHOW #10 ($40)

ELP R1
#1-Jake's Soldier gets 28% winning at Ellis jockey Borel and looks to be the lone speed ahead.
$50 WIN #1

DMR R4
#9-Deluxe Bus is coming off 5 consecutive victories (4 on synthetic) and I think the streak could continue here in this $40k claimer restricted to 3YOs.
$20 WIN/PLACE #9 ($40)

DMR R5
#4-The Factor will likely take the most money coming off this April-August layoff and getting back on the synthetic. Likely overlooked is the #3-Camp Victory which keeps Joe Talamo and looking for a G1 score for this $40k claim from January where since he has been graded stakes placed three times.
$40 WIN/PLACE #3 ($80)

DMR R9
#1-Don Cavallo steps on Del Mar's surface for the first time but carries a 4-3/1/0 record over synthetic and is a monster on the material. This is his first grade 1 so he may be overmatched but the price will sure be right. Contreras comes in from Woodbine to ride too.
$50 WIN/SHOW #1 ($100)

Total Wagers = $975.00, this is before any scratches.

Cashed on AP R9, CRC R3, CRC R5, ELP R1, and DMR R5. Ended at a loss for the day despite the 9-1 at Calder.

8/28 Wagered = $975.00

Daily Profit/loss = -$207.00

Total Journal Wagers = $1820.00
Total Journal Returns = $1486.00

So far, it looks as if the exotics end of my wagering is the problem. Going to work on increasing bet size of WPS wagers and decreasing or eliminating some Exotic wagers. Hit rate on exotics is always less so it could just be from going through that.

Just a few wagers today, being Monday, however Saratoga brings some good opportunities late in the card.

SAR R7
#8-Celebrity Sighting has a record of 5-2/3/0, being well-placed and running well throughout her career. This race is now the 3rd off the layoff and she hopes to turn those 2nds into a win today, which she should be able to lay off the pace ahead of her and come late. She is turning back today to one turn and her shortest distance run which of some concern but thinking enough pace lies ahead of her from the 4 and 7.
$30 WIN/PLACE #8 ($60), $5 DOUBLE 2+4+7+8 / 4 ($20)

SAR R8
If you throw out her one turn mile performance at the "Big Sandy" Belmont, then #4-D'Oratory comes up with incredible form. 2nd off a layoff with Ramon back in the saddle coming off a win over the Saratoga track at today's same distance. She could lay close or even be the pace today and win it.
$50 WIN/PLACE #4 ($100), $5 EXACTA 4 / 2+3+5 ($15)

PEN R1
This wager only applies if Penn National has a course rating of anything other than FAST, which I think should happen considering the storms and current weather in that area.
#8-Now And Zen comes to this conditioned claimer for horses that haven't won a race in the past 6 months in good form and has a likeliness for off tracks and Penn's dirt in general.
$25 WIN #8, $50 SHOW #8 ($75)

PEN R4
Same condition applies here; wager only submitted if track is anything other than FAST.
#5-Sassymay just had a 5 length victory in a Mcl12500 for Stephanie Beattie and likes the slop. Expecting another wire to wire victory tonight.
$50 WIN #5

Total Wagers = $320.00

I have a few wagers for Saratoga and will post those here, and then a few at Remington, Del Mar, and Woodbine which I'll post later on after I finalize my selections.

SAR R3
#2-Christine Daae was highly touted after her maiden win to be the next Rachel Alexandra but never lived up to the hype. This will be her 4th race this year, 3rd off a layoff, and drops to an ungraded stake and gets blinkers on again. She also gets Curatolo in the saddle who does a good job at getting horses home and strikes a $3.05 ROI for trainer/jockey combo.
$25 WIN/PLACE #2 ($50)

SAR R4
A lot of these runners exit the same race on August 8th going today's same distance in the mud. Should be a fast track today so expecting #1-File Gumbo to run better than she has. This will be her 3rd start as a maiden and gets the 5 pound break with Curatolo who has won 3 of 7 starts for Clement.
$20 WIN #1, $50 SHOW #1 ($70)

SAR R5
Main contenders in this NY-bred $20k maiden are the #5-In a Mellow Tone and #10-Spa City Lover. Spa City Lover may very well take more money so I'll take Pletcher's horse (#5) here in attempt to beat the horse that looks to have seconditis.
$25 WIN/PLACE #5 ($50), $10 EXACTA BOX 5+10 ($20), $5 EXACTA 5/3+8+10 ($15)

SAR R8
This stake for 2YO fillies on the turf has some good talent. Thinking #1-Crazy Party may have good odds considering there is a first time NA horse in #9 for Team Valor that may take the majority of the money. Turf-only.
$30 WIN/PLACE #1 ($60), $5 EXACTA 1/3+7+9 ($15), $10 DOUBLE 1+9/5 ($20)

SAR R9
#5-Risky Rachel looks to be working best and having her 3rd race this year. May get a good price too.
$50 WIN/PLACE #5 ($100), $5 EXACTA 5/1+6+7+8 ($20)

Again, more selections for Remington, DelMar, and Woodbine to be posted later.

Been gone from handicapping for a week due to travel and illness. Now I'm back so wanted to get back into this selections journal.

AP R6
This is a quality field of N3X or $100kopt claimers, there is a bit of speed in here and this race could setup nicely for improving 3YO #5-Legendary King (20-1 ML). My only concern is he could be coming back a bit too soon.
$50 WIN #5, $100 SHOW #5 ($150)

AP R8
#7-Always Here Too was very impressive in breaking her maiden over the Ellis Park dirt and looks to convert that form over to the polytrack. Goncalves follows her up here and looks tough.
$100 WIN/PLACE #7 ($200)
$2 PICK 3 - 3+4+6+7 / 1+2+3+5+6+7+9+10+11+12+13+14 / 1 ($96)

AP R9
#5-Heiko is one of the maidens in this 2YO stake but has improved greatly when first stepping on polytrack. And the connections certainly wouldn't waste a start unless they knew that they had a shot in here and at 20-1 ML I think he's worth a play.
$40 WIN/PLACE #5 ($80)

AP R10
#1-Deluxe Heir makes the elusive drop from MSW to Mcl for the first time and she looks to turn those 3 2nds and 2 3rds into a win here.
$100 WIN #1

BEL R7
#3-Top Surprize was on a huge winning streak at my home track Arlington and then connections shipped to Saratoga to run for $50k and ran a nice 3rd beaten a neck. The horse was claimed by Dutrow who sports many positive ROI angles for this runner. Meets a top field but the price will be there.
$100 WIN/PLACE #3 ($200)

BEL R9
#3-Sanagas has improved in his 2nd North American start, winning a stake at Saratoga after getting blinkers. He's been victorious over the 1 3/8 mile distance before so I think this one has a good shot here and his figures place him right in here.
$50 WIN/PLACE #3 ($100)

Total Daily Wagers = $926.00 (before scratches)
