The most trusted and well liked local TV sports reporter (IMO) is stating that Mike F. committed suicide. We shall see.

FWIW, this is the same guy who scooped all others with the report that the Browns were moving to Baltimore. He has cred.

Sad day.

Some facts about Flanny as his teammates called him:

Married w/ 3 daughters
TV and radio color man for the O's
General Manager - O's
Pitching coach - O's

Flanagan's body was found on a path outside his home early yesterday evening.

He wore #46 - last nights winning pitcher for the O's was Jeremy Guthrie who wears #46.

Suicide using shotgun has been reported.

Jim Palmer was giving a local radio interview prior to this afternoon's game vs. the Twins when he completely lost it.

There is absolutely no proof that he committed suicide because of the lack of success of the O's-none. The police cite financial reasons.

Very sad news.
One of my high school math teachers was related to Mike Flanagan.

it truly is very sad, i remember betting on him years ago.

i was just reading where football players have a shorter life expectancy than average by 20 years.

i am always very sorry to hear when someone goes before his time. life is really so precious, friends and family too

Its true about NFL players. I think avg life expectancy is around 54-55.

I went to the first game at age 6 in 1954 and the last game in 1991. I did not realize until hearing that Mike Flanagan had pitched the top of the 9th vs. the Tigers that he threw the last pitch at Memorial Stadium.

I attended the opener at age 6 in 1954 and the last game in 1991. Man, I am really old !!
