Hi everyone, I’ve read quite a few posts from people wishing for a decent smartphone app for betting on the horses.

We’ve been working hard on this and have created a really great app called BetExec. I urge everyone on the board to try it out. We designed it to run on pretty much any device out there. You can go to http://www.betexec.com (http://www.betexec.com/) for more.

No sign up or registration is required to use it. Here are some of the specs:

- Real-time oddsboards, runner pools, pool totals and willpays
- Race results and prices
- A unique drag-and-drop betting interface that works better than anything out there for touchscreen phones and tablets
- no logins until you actually want to place a bet
- runs on iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets
- also runs great on desktop browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome and Safari)
- The first provider we have signed up is Greyhound Channel. They have all the greyhound races of course, but also a very large selection of thoroughbred and harness tracks (all but a handful really).
- Once you have an account at Greyhound Channel, you’ll have access to Live Streaming and Race Replay Video.
- We hope to sign up a lot more account wagering providers, so if your provider isn’t on BetExec, tell them they need to get on here pronto.

The thing is, this is designed as a real smartphone app, not like some of the truly horrible interfaces I’ve seen put out there for betting on smartphones.

You can run the app right now at https://betexec.com/app (https://betexec.com/app) or you can check out some of the videos of BetExec in action on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/betexec (http://www.youtube.com/user/betexec)

As someone who likes to bet myself, it’s a tool I’m very proud that we could create for you.

Enjoy!

How is it monetized?

I checked this app out and played around with it for a few minutes. It took awhile to load on my iPad using 3G, but once loaded the app was very quick. The live odds board feature is great, and the betting platform looks like it has some potential. It looks like it is set up to load bets into a batch and then send it. It looks about 1000% more functional than TwinSpires Mobile.

I didn't get a chance to check out the live video, but will so after I open an account. Is the video free? It looks that way.

All-in-all, it looks like you may have something very useful on your hands. I will be following the progress of having horses added to the mix.

Got to be more to it than that?

Hey Ralph,

BetExec is licensed to the ADW, there's no cost to the User.

Thanks for the great feedback. I'm really glad you liked our app.

We chose to do all the heavy loading in the beginning, so you don't have to wait after every button press. This is especially important for phones and other mobile devices when you're on the go.

The video is free, but open only to account holders at the moment per our arrangement with Greyhound Channel. We have an example of how the Live Streaming works up on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShCRQTmfaq8

Several Horse tracks are already available. Just scroll down below the Greyhounds and you will see them. If you would like to see Horses only, just set the Sport Filter to 'Thoroughbreds'. It's set to 'All Venues' by default. There's more info on those filters in the Help section.

Thanks again for the great feedback,

Will it work on a Blackberry?

Contact the NJSEA (or Bailey and Gural) they had a mobile app a while ago and the company went belly up soon after.

Wish I could sign up but being a resident of NJ is a no go.

That was my first question, does it work with HPI? I have no problems using HPI on my iPhone or iPad, i love the fact that i don't have to go running to a teller when i'm at the track, especially on a busy day.
Does it work with Premier Turf Club?

No, it does not work with HPI, but we would love to work with them.

I agree with you. Betting from your own mobile device is definitely more convenient, especially on busy track days.

Hi speldedo,

No official Blackberry support at the moment, but it does run fairly well on the Blackberry Playbook.
