Dave, Jim Parker and I were playing together today at SAR - hit something like 8 or 9 of the 11 winners including that $45+ horse and I think it was 2 $20+ and a couple of other double digits. Was by far the best run I have ever seen live when there were prices hitting the board. Glad i was in on it! Thanks Dave/Jim!!

And an apology to anyone in the PA tent who didnt like my screaming at the races (I can get a bit emotional when a $45 horse is getting to the wire on top with my money on him or a $20 plus comes out of the clouds and just gets up) but I figure once the bet is in...might as well enjoy the ride!!! Unfortunately in the heat of the moment a 4 letter word or two may have been uttered ... sorry about that.

Also a huge thank you to Al for organizing the tables (and for lunch today) - really super job.

Nice meeting a bunch of the PA guys today. Two of the most fun days I have had in a while. Was nice to shut off the outside world (work.home stuff).

Looking forward to next year (though the Mrs doesnt know it ...yet :) )

And, if anyone is ever on their way to Chicago over a summer weekend, let me know. Arlingon is a beautiful track in its own right if you've never been there. We can hook up there.

I would have loved to see the look on peoples faces when you were jumping around and yelling.

I don't remember you jumping around and yelling at all when you came out to 'The 'hoe'. Not even when you hit that nice tri. Must be the spa water out there.

To quote Trotter, you were "having a very good day". Congrats. You should never have to apologize for yelling for a winner. If people do not like it, they can move elsewhere or play from home (like I do). Heck, I yell for my horses when a nice payoff is involved when playing from home. It does not help, but it is a nice stress release.

You did not mention the Method used to hit the Winners......?

Were you using Dave's NewPace, BOW, Formcycle, Monty Hall and or a combination of such.............?

Part of it was that Dave, Jim and I were on the same horses all day so we kinda fed off each other. At the 'hoe we were in the more subdued atmosphere of th eclubhouse and I knew the day was not going great for you so I didnt feel as 'pumped up'. Didnt want to rub it in.

At SAR I knew others around us had been winning some as well. Barb seemed to have had every super, someone else hit a $200+ double etc. Plus EVERYONE seemed to be yelling some in every race. Made it mre fun to watch the races that way.

Next time we are at the 'hoe I'll scream and yell...then we will get escorted out of the building :D

Oh, and to reply to an earlier question. I was not playing NP at SAR (tho I was elsewhere which elicited comments like "hoosier park, how do you play that?" ... after I hit a $26 horse) but rather I was riding with what Dave is developing now. Early indications are a pretty powerful new idea.

The more you yell and scream the faster they run. I learned that from one cool coon-ass.

I agree. PA or another moderator will probably delete his post, scold him, and remind him of the 'terms of use' here at this site. That'll be some karma owing to him. Shame on turninforhome!

"coon-ass" isnt racial, it is regional, most normally South Louisiana below Alexandria.

Calvin Borel, Randy Romero, Sylvester Carmouche, Kendrick Carmouche, Kent Desormeaux are all "coon-asses" by definition. Not a racial term.

I have a friend from "down that way" who eats some pretty strange food. Not a racist bone in his body. Calls himself by that name.

Those Cajun boys are a bit different, however. I choose not to eat his stew.

As for the methodology - just hold on for a couple of weeks and I'll get a show built to explain it. Very cool stuff. And no, it isn't NewPace, but could certainly be used to build the ultimate NewPace Monty.

A Story...
In November of 2000, I got a call from a guy who was interested in my software. He began by saying that he had been a profession al player since 1976 and had not held a job in all those years.

As is the case, I occasionally get such calls, some from people who start with statements like, "I get 85% winners with 1 horse per race and my mutuels average $12."

My typical response to such calls is, "Why are you calling me? You are a wealthy man!"

When I asked this man that question, he said, "You don't think I am doing the same thing now that I did in 1976, do you?"

That was, perhaps, the most intelligent answer I have ever gotten. I knew immediately that the guy I was talking to was the real deal. (This player reads PA and I invite him to verify this if he so chooses.)

My point is that "staying ahead of the curve is a never-ending struggle. As Jeff Platt mentioned rather eloquently in the NewPace thread:

...makes a strong case for rolling up one's sleeves and doing the requisite work to take a methodology and "make it your own."

"Making it your own" implies making it profitable for you. The naive think that everyone gets the same results. They don't - they probably should, but it doesn't work that way.

In recent months I have discovered that if one can get access to one or two powerful technologies, "make them there own" and then combine them with what they were doing before (or just together), what comes out can be extremely powerful.

So, what has come out for us (HSH users) from Saratoga is an approach to data analysis that will, like NewPace, create a few more long term winners from our group. I would that the data concepts would help improve the results of others as well.

Has nothing to do with race. It is a term persons of Cajun decent use for themselves as a kind of badge of honor. It is like people from Appalachia proudly referring to themselves as hillbillies.

From Wikipedia:

Coonass, or Coon-ass, is used in reference to a person of Cajun ethnicity. Many consider it an insult but others consider it a compliment or badge of honor. Although many Cajuns use the word in regard to themselves, other Cajuns view the term as an ethnic slur against the Cajun people, especially when used by non-Cajuns. Socioeconomic factors appear to influence how Cajuns are likely to view the term: working-class Cajuns tend to regard the word "coonass" as a badge of ethnic pride; whereas middle- and upper-class Cajuns are more likely to regard the term as insulting or degrading, even when used by fellow Cajuns in reference to themselves.

I know what the term means and consider it a racist remark. Sorry, but that is how I feel.

For the record I never heard the term and was laughing at his first sentence (ignoring the second). Actually thought it as typo of some sort.

Guess I need to get out more....
