New here but like what I see. I was doing some toteboard watching yesterday and noticed something kinda fishy. Mr. Whitestone was 12-1 ML horse with really no form at all. First click of the tote and the horse was 3-1 with about $5000 bet on him. Watched the rest of the wagering and noticed that he did not really get bet hard the rest of the way. Just normal for a 12-1 ML horse. He went off at 9-2 range odds. Won by 6 lengths give or take. Just wondering. Looks like someone knew something. Whether it be the trainer/owner or a horseplayer this was very interesting to me. Will keep an eye on the guy though. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Had to be some kind of smart money. Will be watching his horses from now on to see if I notice similiar action. He has one today I know of.

I've always believed most insiders bet early, to avoid getting shut out. Trainers have to spend most of the pre-race time in the paddock, and the owners are usually down there as well.

Early $$ seems very significant at the smaller Ky tracks (TP, ElP).

I'm only mentioning this website for reference, it's where I got the info.

If you go to this website http://www.free-horseracing-info.com and subscribe to his newsletter, you'll get access to his daily free pick. It doesn't look like he archives them, but he had this horse as a "periphery play", which is sort of a "non-figure" contender type horse. If I recall correctly, he wrote that Mr. Whitestone went gate to wire in the slop 3 back (at Belmont), at one level above yesterday's conditions.

I actually hadn't looked at his picks in a while, but did yesterday just for the heck of it. He used to recommend a wagering strategy for his picks but I guess not any more.

Not saying this guy did the heavy wagering, but that perhaps you're wrong that he "really no form at all." I didn't cap the race, but maybe the horse is just an off-track specialist, and somebody knew it.

The horse was a definite figure in the race.I had him in my figures, but passed the race because I thought there were 4 or 5 horses with a chance.Mr. Whitestone definately looked like he would move up on the wet track. If memory serves me correct he won a race on a wet track off a similar pattern.

JOE,
Welcome to the board . I capped the race and my top 4 contenders were 5 8 9 6 . I only use the the 4 selection in case of a scratch. this left me with 5 8 9 . How i bet is like this
My top horse with my 2nd and 3rd selection part wheel.
My 2nd and 3rd selections ex box . So i had a 5/8,9 and a 8-9 ex box . 89.50 ex i'm not complaining .

Appreciate the responses. I really missed why the horse would be those odds but I notice it now after reading the posts here. Might not have actually been trainer/inside information so probably no need to watch the trainer for this again.

Will do it just in case but it most likely was a smart bettor making a large bet on this horse. The reason I say this now is because still the horse took $5000 right off the bat. The rest of the betting the horse only pulled in about $7000 I think. So in the first minute $5k, in the last 20+ minutes $7K. Someone surely had the smarts to nail this horse. I wish I would have followed along but I liked a different horse. I still wonder who had the smarts but that is the way this game goes.

I agree that it was most likely some big bettors ending up on this off.
I couldn't imagine anybody making a big bet on any Odintz trainer information. He is not that good.

Odintz was doing well a couple of years back. But as of late, Putrid. He already has clicked a couple of times here at Aqueduct.

Maybe he found some good juice.
