i like frank lyons and generally agree with his opinions on racing. i think he just said joel rosario is the finest rider in the country.

all opinions are relative, but i don't agree with him here. i know being a top rider is as much politics as ability.

i know john velasquez gets plenty of top stock, but he wins with plenty of priced horses too. he gets my vote. his agent once said,"the fans yell and curse me, but when they're down to their last $2....who do they bet ? angel".

who gets your last deuce?

If Rosario isnt the actual best, he's really close.

Rosario is definitely the best of the west. He might be the best in the country but how would you know? He''s never ridden in a jockey colony like Saratoga's.

I like Johnny V but riding Pletcher's 2 yr olds is almost like cheating.I'll take Castellano in a field of equal horses no matter who is on the others.

That man did me more favors in stakes races over the years......especially in the last 5-10 years of his career.
Very high percentage strike rate, while being selective with his mounts.
He, also, cost me a big score when he got Tiznow up to beat Giant's Causeway in the BCC.....still gives me shivers!!!
$50 and $100 futures tickets at 30-1 are very hard to tear up....... :bang:

Terrific rider when the big money was on the line.....

I second the motion (especially on the grass).
