So, they got this match race coming up in a little bit and i see that the 1 horse is 3-5 ML and the 2 horse is even money ML but currently on the toteboard, both horses are 3-5.

What am i missing?

i don't california, but even with the blinkers going on JOKER FACE he should be pretty far back and the other horse should be able to cross over in front of him and make the rail

Chantal to place.

Joker Face added first time fronts last time.

Chantal is supposed to get right alongside the 1 horse and not clear on purpose and keep him in the 1 path the entire way and force him to wire the field under pressure.

TVG skipped the last at saratoga to show these 2 walking into the paddock with 16 minutes to post. how can you take them seriously ?

announcers said chantal indicated that smith taught her all about match racing. reminds me of the old line-----i taught you everything YOU know---not everything I know. writing pre race.

I should be so lucky had I skipped the last @ SAR.

Smith on top of Sutherland.

I doubt either of them know much about match race riding on polytrack.

Cali racing has hit a new low. Turn out the lights.

Once Mike got that lead and pushed Chantal out in the first turn, it was over.

Was there a special takeout rate for this rate? Based on the pool sizes and payoff, the effective takeout rate was 11.8%

that had to be the most boring match race ive ever seen. Black Ruby and Taz had more excitement and appeal than that/

The fix was in....Mike clearly had the better horse.
I wont sleep tonight.

$186,000 in the win pool. I'll bet Delmar was in favor of legalized "medical" marijuana

Couldn't they have gotten some better horses? Sutherland was on a donkey! lol..

Yes, 10% takeout for the race. Plus breakage.

i thought the horses were pretty evenly matched. she should have gunned to the front and burry him on the rail and she took back.i have seen her ride real good races in the past, she was not at her best today

She spent plenty of time in front of Mike and wanted to see what it was like to be behind him. I'm just worried he enjoyed it.

Well this is a great example of the breakage debate, adding 18% (or 1.8pp) to the effective takeout.

The analyst I'm using in HSH had it 75-25 in favour of Smith.

So everyone's bitching but everyone watched it. Looks like we need more match races but with better horses. Complain all you want but it's good for the game.

I didn't watch it. Why would anyone in Saratoga want to focus on this? SoCal's really grabbing at straws.

I didn't watch it either. Who cares? I don't even care to watch the replay. The worst race at Saratoga is better than this.

I thought Seinfeld was the show about nothing, but what TVG showed came close.

I guess it is each person's opinion as to wether this was good or not.

One thing I noticed was M.Smith's comments about the pre-race warm up.

In a match race a good break and the lead are important.

While Chantel talked to the outrider and calmed her horse, Mike said
he "smooched" to his horse a few times to get him to listen to him and
be on his toes for the start. That was clever stuff I thought.

He was thinking strategy the whole time.
