You have got to be kidding.

First thing that needs to be done for a real recovery is to kill this agency.

If that can be done then we can have some real hope and change.

Too bad the dems would not listen to GEORGE W. BUSH, our last president with integrity, when he tried to fix this sorry agency.

But no, all the dems fell over each other to line up behind Barney Frank.
Just saying.

perfect example of a broken government enterprise that keeps right on chugging along despite the fact its a complete failure. they should be unwinding this monstrosity and shutting it down, but in government nothing ever shuts down.

This monstrosity was the vehicle that allowed America to be taken hostage by it's own government. Control the people, by taking their property-legally. Let us believe that our economy was healthy and borrow against our homes then collapse the market because the financial institutions with a green light from Congress hedged against us. We are bailing out those that bet against us.

On July 25, 2005 the Washington Post [3] reported that Roland E. Arnall, the California billionaire owner of ACC Capital Holdings, the parent company of Ameriquest, was nominated by President George W. Bush to be the United States Ambassador to the Netherlands.

At the same time, it was reported that "Arnall's company, Ameriquest Mortgage Co., is being investigated by regulators in 30 states. A $325 million settlement would be one of the largest ever in a predatory lending case."

On January 23, 2006 the Phoenix Business Journal reported that Ameriquest Mortgage Company reached a settlement and agreed to pay $325M to consumers without admitting wrongdoing. [4]

On March 8, 2006, Arnall became ambassador to the Netherlands.

On September 1, 2007, Reuters, reported Ameriquest closes, Citigroup buys mortgage assets. [5]
Real integrity, Bush and his cronies started this whole mess.

If you are going to start that entire debate over again then you need to dig a whole lot deeper. Follow the chain of evidence all to way back into the 1970's then report back what you've learned. Until then....

What party destroyed Glass-Stegall opening the door for the financial perversion that is the root of this mess. I agree that the this whole thing started with Carter and the CDA, the Republicans just streamlined the fleecing process.

I wrote my thesis on the effects of the repeal of Glass Stegall. Bring it on.

Didn't Dodd and Frank CAUSE the last one?

The only thing Dodd and Frank were good at was making sure the wrong people got huge bonus checks, and of course screwing the voter.
