I wanted to post this great news. I just got hired today. I have been pouring concrete all my life. My father was a contractor and I have been in the mud since I was at least 6. I moved from Alaska in 2002 to work for a major developer in the Sacramento area. Times were great living the big ride. Last June the company I worked for went to a very small crew. I was laid off for the first time in my life. I instantly went to looking for work. I literally spent 7 days a week 10 hours a day searching on the internet. Calling contractors sending my resume to everybody. Every lead I got I beat that door down even if they said we are not hiring. I would find the names of the HR personnel and call them to. I did not take no for a answer. It was so depressing. I had people tell me please do not call me we will call you. I looked in construction sales. I looked into cooking jobs, dishwasher jobs, everything. Finally I got a call from one of the company's that I have been leaving messages every day for a month. For a interview. I had that interview today. It was a 3 hour interview. The company went ahead and started a division and gave it to me to build. The owner stated that my persistence gave him the confidence to give me a shot. Also a salary, that was the best I have ever had. He also stated that they get a lot of resumes but very few people ever keep knocking. So never give up keep pounding on that door. Chris

Wow, we were just in Ketchikan a few weeks ago. It was our first port out of Seattle on a cruise. Nice little town as were all the others we visited in Alaska. It was our 25th. anniversary and the vacation of a lifetime.

Best of luck with your new job!
