How significant is "Early Money" in Thoroughbed Betting Pools ?
Are there any handicapping Guidelines for this factor ?

There was a time when early bird money was intelligent. People would spend time around the clockers corner, eaves dropping for information, and bet at 9:00 am in S. California. Therefore freeing their day up from the riffraff.

IMO the sophistication is now in the late betting-- getting the odds you want with 1 minute to go. If you watch the high end connection (watch them, and you'll see), they'll take care of business in the paddock first and then bet.
Do I think the crowds intelligent enough to give you the pick? No. The crowds wrong and will throw you some odds if you are patient.
