coil might be the most overrated horse in the country and that's saying something.

shackleford won't lose the haskell. travers is too far away

Shackleford imo has very little chance to win the Haskell ,i will go as far as saying you may seen SF best races already.Coil is still fresh hasnt gone thru the 3yr old triple crown grind.Coil maybe overhyped not overratted.
If SF does win the Haskell ,then i underratted how good he is,but for now Coil imo is the NOW horse.

I'm going against Coil today, even though Baffert is deadly with the blinks off move....would like to have seen a work at Mth.

The question mark for me is Ruler On Ice (#6), the Belmont winner. He is the lone true closer in this field, and even though it's Mth, he may pick up a lot of these late. He will be in last down the backside. The problem is that I disagree with the Beyer for the Belmont (big sloppy track fig) and have that race rated much slower, which puts him in the plodder category and only eligible for minor awards. I will be using Ruler underneath.

Shack will be fresh off the short break and is the controlling pace here, even though there are many E/P types in this field. Can't see anyone outsprinting him for the lead, esp off those last two works.

Pants On Fire is an obvious player but had better not be too close to Shack early or i think he's cooked. His last was a nice effort.

Astrology is my horse. Gonna forgive the IowaDby fiasco at 1-2 odds as i think he was over the top after having been fully cranked for a nice 3rd off the layoff Preakness effort. Regrouped and refreshed with 3 Sar works, my figs from the Jerome and Preakness put him right there with the big players in here, 9-2 ML odds are fine....only problem is that I can never get right with Leparoux.

i've seen all of coils races. i just don't see it. i really don't. the fields he beat weren't anything out there and he lost to a 23 to 1 shot in the swaps, who proably couldn't even place in an allowance race at saratoga

Toussad, the horse he lost to wasnt supposed to be 23/1,go look at his pp lines he was the only horse that could beat Coil that day.Im not betting the race.

Toussad, the horse he lost to wasnt supposed to be 23/1

you are right, he should have been 230/1. i like coil today, but the horse that beat him last time was an underlay at 23/1, not an overlay

How about Super Saver. No joke my cable guide for ABC at 5:00 pm says, "From Monmouth Park, Oceanport, New Jersey. After winning his first Kentucky Derby this year, trainer Todd Pletcher is hoping Super Saver can deliver Pletcher's third Haskell victory in five years".

Coil wins the Haskell and Travers.

7/1 on who in the Travers? COIL? You actually think he'll be anything close to 7/1 in the Travers if he wins today?

Actually, 7/1 would be a fair price today in the Haskell, IMHO. Looks like an underlay to me.

Coil wins the Haskell and Travers.

Baffert was on ATR earlier. He was a bit coy about the blinkers going off (to avoid a pace duel with Shack & co??), and while he obviously likes the horse, he didn't sound convinced about its chances. He said that the very good horses run well on both dirt and synthetic and this is his chance to prove that he's one of them.

8.60 to boot!

I thought this horse was going to be 6-5...its Bob Baffert at Monmouth with a fancy shipper, i can't believe he was so 'ignored' in the wagering.

You gotta like a capper that makes the correct call at a good price. I like it even more when that capper has enough confidence to start a thread on PA. Congrats to you Casino! I hope you had him big time at the windows.

had the rail and the rail was dead in the HASKELL. he got to be real tough tomorrow. i was a chicken not betting him in new jersey. baffert is pretty sharp, he went back to last and went around the field. he is always thinking that's why he is always winning.

Coil wins the Haskell and Travers.
Three bullet works at the Spa off his win in the Haskell.
Very good!
Now, I consider the Travers to be a race in which there are horses who's connections have pointed their horse to this race. Every year it seems there is an unknown or one of those "where the hell did THAT horse come from" types in the Travers. The key for me anyway, is to find which horse or horses are the one(s).
One thing. I am on Shackleford if the track comes up favoring speed.
I am also taking a hard look at Rattlesnake Bridge.....Gets Johnny V up. McLaughlin is a 18% graded stake winner. Horse appears to be training well up to this assignment
