I was really looking forward to the next "Dude" race.
However, I'm glad he can retire and be a happy horse and sire some babies??!

He'd done enough.....
Ok, that was a joke, but I really don't see him getting any more legit Gr 1s and he was going to be retired most likely in a couple months anyway. He went out "on top" I guess. Can't knock that stud value back down now.

I remember playing him in the last 3 races, but told my brother after the race that his gallop out/ gallop back was not good at all and I would have to lay off even though I do really like the horse. Hopefully he becomes a decent stallion.

I'm pissed off because I wanted to see a few more races just to get a better gauge on his ability as a matter of intellectual handicapping curiosity .

Always liked First Dude. Nothing wrong with a horse that runs hard every time out, even if his ability may or may not be top-class. That said, he won a few big ones this year, and in a handicap division where there isn't a clear leader right now, this is a sizable loss.
IT was FD who gave me the cushion to win a triple crown contest. Plus a nice fat pocket full of cash. He will always be one of my sentimental favorites.

thanks first dude for the fat wad of cash from your last race  now go make some babies...
In the breeding shed, I doubt he will be the Fist Dude!
