Veterinarian Scratches

I noticed the 7 scratches on today's Del Mar card are all veterinarian scratches. Got me to thinking. Is a vet scratch a strong negative? Does anyone have data about how they fare when they first return to the races?

most of them reflect a trainer not liking the field or post his horse has drawn into and has decided to opt out.

ya i get alot of vet scratches on longshots ...trainers doing there thing... :bang:
