His sources say Santa Anita will get the Breeders Cup in 2012 and Belmont will get it in 2013!

He talks about it in the breaking news section of And They’re Off! Click on the link for the whole story.

Enough with this California bias.
Woodbine would be better than SA.

Any track would be better than SA.

California is almost guaranteed good weather and is one of the more telegenic
tracks for broadcasting.

Saratoga would be my first choice. Anyone know how its looks in the fall?

A foot of snow? Before November? When did that happen?

Saratoga would probably be too cold.

A few of the Belmont/AQU BCs were very cold. One I went to at CD was ridiculously cold.

The best weather is definitely CA and Florida, but it's possible GP couldn't even handle it anymore.

I figured they had snow from October to April up there :)

Would it be impossible to back up the dates for BC by 1 month - would bring more tracks into the picture?

Keeneland, for one.

You are thinking logically. We are dealing with the Breeders Cup here.

Next they are gonna come up with a race limited to horses bred in the UK and France.

Might overlap Breeder Cup prep races and cause rescheduling at least at Belmont and Santa Anita, not sure about Keeneland and Churchill.

Lenny Shulman and BloodHorse were right after all!

ARCADIA - The coveted Breeders' Cup World Championships will return to Santa Anita Park in 2012.

The news was confirmed by an Arcadia city councilman and a source close to the racetrack.

"It certainly is a great thing for the city," said Councilman Mickey Segal, who said he heard the news from a top racetrack official. "I think the Breeders' Cup realizes that Arcadia is a great location and provides a great setting for the event. That's why I continue to believe it comes back here."

They might have to, I don't think there'll be many euro's this year. Not many good ones, anyway.

The horse racing industry will do everything they can to save Cal. racing.

Prob. too late though.

Hopefully they'll eventually put it at a track no one wants to go to & then it could die a slow death and maybe, finally, races that used to mean something would get back their former status instead of being thought as as preps.

For people whose livelihoods depend on the Southern California racing circuit (and who have been hurt by declining handle, which the TOC is quite responsible for), this is good news. :)

Wait a minute, now I could be wrong but didn't one of FRANK STRONARCHS'

former CEO 's get put on the Breeders Cup board of directors or some shennanigans like that. I could be wrong but I read something somewhere
somebody got a good job over there.

p.s. I heard they gonna bring Zenyatta back

Talk on ATR this week about NYRA holding its own champioiship day with the slot money.

I like it.

Why keep holding it at SA, which is just about the furthest possible place AWAY from most horses and fans???

For 5 years, SA has had trouble maintaining a racing surface, and even today, no one knows what they have there. Why reward incompetence?

Three year circuit:
Belmont
Woodbine
CD

The North American Championships

How do we go about disenfranchising the BC?

How do we go about disenfranchising the BC?As usual, Crist makes some great points about the poor decisions being made on behalf of the BC in recent years.

And as usual, the stuff that rise to the top of the horse racing pond is not cream.

How can one industry have so many blooming idiots running it?

At first I couldn’t figure out how a track, indeed a state, that hasn’t done anything right racing-wise in years, would be awarded the BC. Looks to me like Frank just bought the damn thing. He hires the president of the BC a few months ago to run his tracks and look what happens. It’s a miracle!

And right in time for the takeout hikes to help shear the sheep to the max. "Bidness" as usual and once again failure manages to get rewarded.

Avioli, who left Breeders' Cup to oversee Frank Stronach's racetrack holdings, couldn't be immediately reached for comment Aug. 3.

According to Satish Sannan who is involved with the BC. The event makes the most money when it's in Sanata Anita, Churchill is a close second and Belmont is a very distant third.
