It seems to me that however this current "debt limit/budget" crisis plays out, the Credit Reporting Agencies will probably STILL downgrade our credit rating. After all, half of our lawmakers can't or won't stop spending to stop the bleeding, and the other half can't or won't raise any more money to help with the shortfall.

If the country were a household, it would have a FICO credit score of around 450. The consuming partner keeps buying stuff on credit cards, and the breadwinner partner doesn't make enough money! Ugh!

the breadwinner makes plenty of money.
the consuming partner is like a spendaholic crack addict with a blank checkbook to fund their habit.

we need to take away the checkbook.

do you realize that in most government agencies you are more likely to die than be layed off or fired? there is ZERO accountability and they just want to grow every year forever. most of our discretionary domestic spending is a complete waste. there should be NO discussion about raising revenue with so much waste, they need to live withing our means.

Yep prune the rot and the whole will be healthier. Asking for more to waste is not the answer. I hope the damn thing go south... the only way to rein in both sides from wasteful spending.
