When The Wall Street Journal encouraged by the economy's momentum at the end of 2010, they predicted the U.S. would grow at an annual rate of 3.6% in the 1st quarter, 3.4% in the 2nd and third and 3.5% in the 4th.

Hardly the burst of growth that usually follows a deep recession, but it would have been enough to bring down unemployment gradually.

The forecasters were wrong while the-skate came thru. The U.S. grew at a disappointing 1.9% pace.

Herbert hoover's been dead for forty six years. That doesn't make him any less responsible for the Great Depression. GB is in Texas, but he is still largely responsible for the Great Recession. If he hadn't created the problem, there would not have been a problem to fix. Bush drove the car over the cliff and now you are complaining because Obama hasn't been able to drive it back to the top. That's what is getting old.

As usual, you lose sight of the fact that Democrats controlled the purse strings between 2006 and 2008. A lame duck can't do much other than quacking.

A lame duck can't do much other than quacking. It wasn't the purse strings that got us into this mess. It was the deregulation of the banking and insurance companies that did and that happened before 2007 when democrat took control the house. I have yet to hear any republican say that we needed more regulation. Obama has tried to get some more regulation of those industries but the most part is being blocked by republicans and a couple democratic senators like Sen Ben Nelson (D-NE ) who was an insurance company executive before getting into politics. Nelson likely opponent in 2012, tea party favorite Jon Brunning, is from a family of bankers. So it goes!
The wall street bankers basically put their money on black at roulette wheel at let it ride until it came up red. The executives called them geniuses as long black kept coming up and took huge bonuses. They are claim that their track record of picking black and letting it ride produced profits for several years and they can do it again.

Frank and Dodd, otherwise known as Fannie and Freddy.Frannie and Freddy were around before either Frank or Dodd were born. Read a little history before regurgitating republican catch phrases.

Same old, same old written by the usual Republicon suspects, without a thought for the facts.

Of course F&F were around before F&D. The presidency was also around before Obama. What's your point? My point is that any government agency or office can be run poorly. Stop the nitpicking. You knew exactly what I meant. This has nothing to do with "talking points" and EVERYTHING to do with ABUSE OF POWER and ARROGANCE!
