Trying to figure out last start competition and using this

ok horse1 finished 15Ls behind the winner and the first four horses ratings are 75,75,75,75 so average is obviously 75 and what i do is average - lengths behind.

but where i stuck is when a horse wins by 1L to horses rated 60,60,60,60 but my first horse1 is 30/1

so my answer is whats Lengths make up 1Rating..obvious a horse whos rated 110 isnt 10LS inferior to a horse rated 120

if the winner gets a 75 and your horse is 15 lengths off then the speed rating will be down around 68 for your horse. Lengths of lead converts to time and you set it to the scale you are using.

A horse win by 10 lengths with a time of 72 in a six furlong race and a horse that wins by 1 in 72 in a six furlong race both get the same rating, (say 85 for example)

The rates are based on time. here, the horse had easy competition in the first race and tougher competiton in the second.

Sorry.. I should have said. I'm talking about Timeform rating of 75.
