Pari-Mutuel Wagering

As other forms of gambling have become more widespread, pari-mutuel wagering has lost popularity, and state revenues have seen a steady decline. Revenue collections from pari-mutuel wagering declined almost continuously. Overall state revenues from pari-mutuel wagering declined significantly from $554 million in 1993 to $150 million in 2010, according to data reported by U.S. Census Bureau. After adjusting for inflation, revenues from parimutuels declined by over 80 percent for the same period.
