I always play the Summit of Speed P5 races. Reviewed the replays of contenders, Smash, Cal Nation and Indiano.

Smash has run big in all three career starts and was in tight for racing room when facing highly-touted stablemate, Coil. Cal Nation is a disappointment following his very impressive maiden win, but possesses speed that may carry to wire. Indiano earned his first US win, last out, at Calder. He will be moving forward on that effort.

Will be using both Smash and Indiano on ticket.

Baffert using Smith says he needs his go-to rider more urgently elsewhere....how does this play out with your train of thought regarding this race for Smash?...I don't know if Smith has ridden Smash before, has he?

oh and a ps added, I have nothing against M. Smith

I think Coil is going in the Swaps on the same day and Gracia is on him. Baffert is loaded with talented 3 yr olds and has said his problem is keeping them separated.

I have finally learned my lesson. I play the SOS every year and have no earthly clue about Calder. I lose all the time.
Not playin this year.

For me, it ain't the Summit Of Speed, it's the Summit Of Sh*t

Smash is obviously a very talented colt.

With that said, I think Indiano is going to be VERY difficult to beat in this race. His last race was a monster effort. He is based at Calder and obviously loved the track. His 6F time of 1:10.3 that day tied 5yo Giant Ryan's 6F time 5 races later. Giant Ryan comes back as one of the favs in the Smile Sprint. Indiano also did it easier. The race was also faster than the UCanDoIt Stakes also on the same day for older Fillies and Mares. That race went in 1:11.1 and was won by Musical Romance, who runs back as the best of the local horses in the Princess Rooney. Indiano also showed more speed in the last than previously and draws the outside post, while Smash and Cal Nation draw the 1 and 2 spot.

Even beyond that, Indiano ran huge in his 1st two US starts as well. Both races went slower than normal early for the class/distances, putting him at a severe disadvantage. They were won by Escort and Travelin Man, 2 very talented colts from the Pletcher barn, who took advantage of the slow early paces. Indiano was making up ground on both of them at the end.

To me, Indiano is the most likely winner of the 4 sprint stakes races and I'll be keying him in most of my pk4 and pk5 bets.

An interesting horse to watch in the race is Bulaga. The David Fawkes trainee was impressive winning his debut by 13 lengths. He has since came back with 2 very strong works and could very well be the main speed in this race. He could be the upsetter.

Also, I live down here in South Florida and it has been raining for the better part of the past 2 days. Expect the turf races to definetely be off and a possible off track.
