This is one of those ' Triumph of the Human Spirit' events. This clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Js5OHHsWWOU&feature=grec_index will explain it fairly well (especially about the 40 second mark) and the website- in depth http://www.yukonriverquest.com/
It is not for the faint of heart, as the description mentions. In less than 3 days, you are expected to go 750km/460 miles with only two mandatory pit stops, finishing on Canada Day. You do sign waivers... oh yes you do...;)
The MUCH better half has done this twice!!:jump:  during its 11 year history. The first year she entered, I was scanning the teams, which included Brit commandos!
I said: " Are you sure... "
She was & did 2x.
Winner this year finished in 42hrs and 17 minutes. All time record is 39hrs. 32 minutes. You do the math about their speed.
